Why can't you get an exemption from the school so you don't have to take. Physical Education? These questions can be answered by some of the staff here at Behrend, and some times you end up running from office to office. By coming to meet the "non-traditionar students that make up the membership of TOTH you can, most generally, get first hand, personal experiences to tell you what others have gone through so you can make value judgements with a variety of information. What post-high-school students need is not always what is needed by older students. We all need to know how to get what we need to be the best students we can be, even if we are aged between 23-50+. The big adjustment of trying to return to the school environment needs all the help from any source able to help. Come to our meeting and find out what I mean. We can be supportive or find support for those that need it. But there is always the chance that you will be able to help us too, by bringing new and fresh ideas and information. That's the big job we need to do, exchange communication with other students just like us, the "non-traditional" students here at Behrend. We can address issues that are not being addressed anywhere else also. For instance, our committees are still working for a DAY CARE not just for students, but for employees too. This is something that is available at main campus and needs to be available here at Behrend. We need to impress to the university administrators of our "special" needs that are different that traditional studentc nee ds. It would be great to show them that we are united and serious. Our seriousness in reaching our goals is one thing we can show to other students. This is one of our brightest assets, and the college knows it. We are a contributing role-model-image to the younger students, whether we want to or not Our experiences in life could be that basis of a rap session, if any interest is shown. We need to have new ideas about where to hang our "Message board” so we can leave messages for each other, and Yes, we still need a special area or lounge type room to help us pass the long hours on campus that are required by our many miles of commuting and widely-spaced class hours. Come and join us every other Thursday at Noon in Reed 116. For more information call Tom 456-8387 or Marlynn at 825-3980. Diane Sawyor...Class of 1963 "It's wonderful... "...Il's horrendous...what about the students there now? Will they be Penn State or Behrend? I agree Behrend is a good college, I enjoyed my first two years there tremendously. If it wasn’t for WBCR I don't know where I'd be today. I also enjoyed U.P., the change was very appealing. Observers often point out that her focus is part of what makes her unique as a columnist. Whereas most syndicated columnists deal mainly with current news events and political issues, Goodman is not afraid to dive headfirst into social issues that few others dare to tackle. "Sometimes I write what I call 'social work columns....thc kind of thing I write about because it needs written and nobody else is going to do it," said Goodman. . Though Eller. Goodman dealt mostly with the changes that women have realized, she is not at all unsympathetic to the problems of the modern male. "The expectations have risen for men as well, she noted, pointing out that today's man is expected to be strong, but not silent, sensitive and, "able to leap tall emotional buildings in a single bound."
