Like most other raps, the Beasties' banter deals with issues of social importance such as crime, drugs, and poverty. But sometimes the Beasties bring things in on a more personal level. On "Fight for Your Right," fellow Beasties complain "living at home is such a drag, your mom threw away your best porno mag." Other lyrics describe the fun of getting kicked out of White Castle or pick ing up 'girlies' downtown. Nonetheless, the two most notable songs on the album are "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" and "Brass Monkey." "No Sleep till Brooklyn" rocks because of guest metal guitarist Kerry King. This is probably the only serious rap-rock song on the album. "Brass Monkey" is either the name of the Beastie Boys' favorite beer or the caricature of the mug they drink from. Either way, one can picture the Beastie Boys writing "Brass Monkey" while sitting around get ting smashed. MOEli The sole clinker of "Licensed to Ill" seems to be the song "Time to Get III." On which, the theme from Mr. Ed is hacked and scratched in a volatile rap fashion while the Beasties' chant "What's the time?/ It's time to get ill." Wilbur, are they serious?
