Collegian April 3, 1986 Behrend feels the beat of the "Rhythm of the Night" by Julie Karasinski Collegian Contributing Writer Two years ago "Behrend Thriller," a homemade version of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video made by, and starring Behrend students, was filmed on various locations around campus. It was intended as a promotional video for Behrend, but copyright permission could not be obtained, preventing it from being shown promotionally. Now it is used to entertain potential students and give them a taste of what some of the students do in their spare time. To keep the process going, the newly formed Video Committee is producing another video, "Rhythm of the Night" by MSG Young teaches by Thomas Milky Collegian Staff Writer On Saturday, March 22, our cadets were off to Fairview to the Gem City Outdoorsmen's Club for familiarization firing of the MI6AI rifle. Rifle Club President Glen Hordusky supervised the range activities that the Rifle Club Deßarge. This time, they're going through all the proper channels. Penn State lawyers are looking in to copyright permission and fees so the video can be used for pro motion publicly. This energetic video requires lots of people dancing and having a good time. Deßarge has a guar dian angel type role. They save Behrend campus from boredom by coming and creating excite ment and fun. Behrend's version of "Rhythm of the Night" will open with a camera scanning Behrend cam pus, showing people doing every day things; hanging around cam pus, studying, and perhaps play ing softball. Then Deßarge will drive in and start singing. People performed. Prior to the actual firing, the Rifle Club provided an interesting demonstration. They hung a plastic, one-gallon milk jug, full of water, from a target brace, beside a can of shaving cream. Then expert marksman Rich Wills fired at the water jug and it ex ploded wide open. "We sat down and listened to the music and tried to see -what exactly did we feel from the music and we came up with that type of party a lesson on Then, as Hordusky sighted on the pressurized shaving cream can, a hush of anticipation fell over the spectators, until finally, he fired. The can teetered on the post. Everyone figured he had missed by a hair, and the breeze of the bullet had teetered the can. He fired again, and nothing moved. Frustrated, Glenn took a third TROUBLED? The increased pressure was released just as quickly as it was created," MSG Young explained. "The human body is over 75 percent water. So—are there any questions on the shock effect of the MI6AI rifle? (Silence) I didn't think so. I think this little demonstration shows why it's im portant to keep your weapon pointed up and down range," he concluded. After the demonstration, the cadets were instructed via round robin on safety procedures, the field-stripping and cleaning of the M I§Al Rifle and on Land navigation. About thirty cadets got to try their hand at firing the Army's main assault rifle on the fifty foot range.
