visors for assistance. This week's

CONJUNCTIVITIS "PINK
EYE"
This is an inflammation of the
eye with tearing, discharge, burn
ing, itching, and smarting. It may
be caused by various organisms or
irritation from wind, smoke, dust,
light, contact lenses, eye make-up,
etc. One or both eyes may be
involved.
Treatment: Keep your hands away
from your eyes. Use only your
own towel. Seek medical
attention.
Eye rinse and anti-biotic eye
ointment usually clears the irrita
tion in two to three days.
FLOATERS
Do you see spots in front' of
your eyes? These are called
floaters. 80 percent of the popula
tion are affected by these spots
which look like tadpoles or dust
spots. They are probably due to
tiny specks of dead tissue which
come away from the lining of the

The following is a general
emergency response guide for
students, faculty and staff. This
guide covers three general
categories of emergencies:
(A) Fire: 1. Ring fire alarm; 2.
Call Police and Safety and stay
calm, they will call Fire Depart
ment; 3. Leave the building when
the alarm is activated—use the
most accesible and closest exit—do
not run!; 4. Fire extinguishers are
available for small fires. Activate
the alarm and call Police and
Safety prior to trying to ex
tinguish a small fire; 5. If smoke is
present, drop to the floor and
crawl outside.
(B) Injury: 1. Contact Police and
Safety—they will call the am
bulance if needed; 2. Be calm and
