Befarend won the April 13 doubleheader, downing Pottorf Strikes for Perfection by Rob Roth Collegian Sports Writer On April 2 Rich Pottorf did what most bowlers only dream about; he bowled a perfect 300 game. The intra-class tournament, which took place during physical education bowling class at Eastway Lanes, is unfortunately not officially sanctioned by the American Bowling Congress, but it will be remembered by all peo ple involved. Many spectators watched the last of the 12 strikes in a row. Karin Sobotta, class instructor said, “1 got to Rich’s lane after THE BEHREND COLLEGIAN the second strike. The lanes were in real good condition because they had just been oiled, and Rich just stayed very relaxed.” Pottorf is. known locally as a consistent bowler averaging in the upper 170’s, but this was the first time he had ever come close to a 300 game.
