at 8 a.m. when he arrives at the

with students and their families. If
at that time he has no appoint
ments, he reviews and processes
applications and responds to
phone calls.
When asked what he has gained
from this job thus far, Allen
answered, “It allows me the op
portunity to utilize my interper
sonal skills and to develop and
build on some of my professional
skills.” “One in particular,” he
continued, “is the idea of good
time management. In order to get
a student to actually decide on at
tending a campus in the Penn
State system, and hopefully
Behrend, I usually spend about 45
minutes to an hour addressing
their questions regarding
admissions.”
The Admissions Office is hav
ing a successful spring semester by
increasing enrollment due to the
work of Sandra Edwards, assis
tant to the dean of student affairs
and Steve Mostert, director of
admissions.
With the busy schedule of the
admissions staff, any help that
students could give by becoming a
New ROTC Instructor
Discusses Army Career

Behrend College’s ROTC
department has a new instructor
tins semester. His name is Cpt.
Richard E. Donahue Jr. and he’s
had a very colorful career in the
miltary. Cpt. Donahue earned a
B.S. degree in biology from the
Virginia Military Institute and an
M.B.A. with an emphasis in
hospital administration from the
University of Northern Colorado.
He has attended five Army
courses, has been decorated six
times, and has earned the Master
Parachutist Badge.

than a few interesting stories to
tell. Here are his answers to ques
tions asked in*a recent interview
with the Behrend Collegian.
Collegian: “Where are you
originally from?”
Donahue: “I’m an Army
‘brat’, but I was born in Nurn
berg, Germany.”
Collegian: “Would you briefly
describe your career for us?”
Donahue: “I graduated and
was commissioned in May 1974
from the Virginia Military In
