The Student Voice
Cory Summerson
Cory Summerson: (Fourth
Semester, Electrical Engineering)
“The plan won’t affect me per
sonally. What must be done,
should be, done to bring this coun
try back to its economical and
proper well-being.” a
Tom Baranowski: (Fourth
Semester, Industrial Engineering)
“It won’t affect me because I
don’t receive any loans now, but I
don’t think it is right because peo
ple I do know can’t afford school
unless they get student loans.”
Mike Rossi
Mike Rossi: (Second Semester,
Pre-Med) “Without financial aid,
going on to medical school will be
tough if a limit is opposed. Educa
tion is a necessity for an improved
economy in the long run, and
financial support for it shouldn’t
be cut.”
TJ. Palmer: (Ninth Semester,
Hotel and Restaurant Manage
ment) “If this goes through, it will
make things especially difficult
for me, since I do receive loans for
school. I think Reagan has hurt
education enough with his
previous budget cuts and he
should seek other places to cut
federal spending.”

Steve Johnson: (Fifth Semester,
Political Science) “More than
likely, I will be forced to quit
school. Although my parents do

Remi Perry: (Second Semester,
Business Management) “Presi
dent Reagan has no sympathy for
ambitious people who want to at
tend college. Some people may
become discouraged if they don’t
receive funds. A lot of people will
be forced to quit school. Only the
rich will be able to become
educated. If loans and aid are cut
out, I may have to attend a com
munity college at home.”

Tracie Valesk: (Eighth
Semester, Accounting) “It won’t
affect me, but the previous budget
cut did affect others. I had a loan
my freshman year and was not
eligible thereafter. I also didn’t
continue college.”

Agent Provocateur
Foreigner
Atlantic Records
****
Commercial success has and will
continue to be no stranger to
Foreigner with “Agent Pro
vocateur” riding on the crest of
the charts. Foreigner is spearhead
ed by co-producer Mick Jones,
another ‘Mr. Everything’ who
plays guitar, bass, and keyboards
and co-writes songs with lead
singer Lou Gramm.
On this album Jones puts his
guitar in the backseat as Foreigner
opts for a barrage fo synthesizers.
In addition to Jones’s syn
thesizers, extra help was sought
from five other keyboardists
resulting in some of the best syn
thesized music to come out in
some time.
Cinderella Complex
to be Discussed
In 1981, Colette Dowling’s
book, The Cinderella Complex ,
topped the bestseller list and caus
ed women to stand up and shout
“Yes, this is me”!
On Thursday, Feb. 28, Jeff
Keim, Director of Employee
Assistance Programs at St. Vin
cent’s Health Center, will address
this issue of women’s hidden fear
of independence in the Reed Lec
ture Hall at 7:30 p.m.
The event, planned in honor of
Women’s History Week (March
3-9) by Women Today of
Behrend, is open to the public and
free of charge.
Following Keim’s presentation,
Lou Ann Barton, part-time
Behrend counselor, will lead an

A standout is the song “That
Was Yesterday” which sounds
like Jones is playing in your living
room. Foreigner throws in
everything except the kitchen sink
on the number one pop single “I
Want to Know What Love Is.” In
addition to the background vocals
provided by the New Jersey Mass
Choir, singer Jennifer Holliday of
“Dream Girls” fame and
keyboardist Tom Bailey of the
Tompson Twins add their per
sonal touches to the song.
The Jones-Gramm duo write of
love lost, love found, love return
ed, and love gained so proficiently
and meaningfully that one never
tires of hearing love songs from
Foreigner.
Furthermore, Lou Gramm
sings with intense feeling and
emotion making Foreigner’s love
songs sound that much better.
With 10 commendable songs and
a minimum of blank space,
“Agent Provocateur” is well
worth the money. Foreigner un
doubtedly worked hard on this
album and in terms of success,
they will undoubtedly reap the
benefits of their hard work.
informal discussion in the
Seminar Room. Refreshments will
be served.
The basis of the Cinderella
complex is that women, in spite of
external strides of independence,
wait for Prince Charming to
“save” them. It is this sub
conscious reality that continues to
keep women from fully realizing
their potential.
Becoming aware of these forces
acting within women is an impor
tant tool for both men and women
in dealing with each other in to
day’s complex society. Perhaps by
trying to understand these inner
forces, women can begin to shape
their lives away from this
