Coach Karin Sobotta spoke of her
outlook on the present season.
She said that it is going to be
rough since all the teams are new
to her. But, practices are going
well and the girls are working
hard.

Sobotta’s goal is to play a quick
team with hopes that her girls are
better conditioned. Also, she said
that good percentage shots will
carry them, along with the ex
perience and determination of the
team.
Next, Men’s Basketball Coach
Doug Zimmerman spoke of his
team. In his summation of the
1984-85 team, he says that they
are better than last year in that
they have a deeper bench and are
stronger physically. Although the
team is young, Zimmerman said
that they will be aggressive, try to
create action, move the ball and
take good percentage shots. Zim
merman said, “We are capable of
beating everyone and we are
capable of losing to everyone we
Play.”
Zimmerman spoke highly of his
players as he elaborated on each
of their strengths:
Dave Harris - a good shooter
and a hard worker
Randy Gomiak - has excellent
ball-handling skills
Greg Green - is the biggest in

John Sargent - very mobile and
an excellent jumper.
Mark Majewski - epitomizes the
team player concept
Paul Cwalina - a very heady
player; likes to get inside and
work
Bob Mudger - an intense and
strong player
Jon Meanor - has had good
defensive schooling and will use it
well
Larry Davies - can run all day;
loves the game
Pete Alex - a great shooter;
their best range shooter
Ralph Drayer - probably the
best athlete on the team; only
needs an inch to create a hole
On the whole, the team looks
impressive this year and Coach
Zimmerman summed up the com
ing season in two words:
‘‘CAUTIOUSLY
OPTIMISTIC”.
