These awards in clude the following: 1. THE THOMAS H. TURNBULL AWARD The Turnbull Award honors a Behrend College student of seventh term standing or above, who has demonstrated outstan ding qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and citizensh. In addi the stu dent has directed these tion, qualities into programs and services that have positively influenced fellow students and have contributed to the prestige and well-being of Retread College, and thus, to the reputation of the University. 2. THE ERIC A. AND JOSEPHINE WALKER AWARD The Walker Award recognizes a student who is completing two full years of freshman sophomore study at a Com monwealth Campus, and who demonstrates outstanding qualities of character, scholar ship, leadership, and citizenship. Each Commonwealth Campus selects a campus recipient, who in turn becomes a candidate for the university-wide Walker Award. 3. THE GUY W. WILSON AWARD The Guy W. Wilson Award honors that student who, although not a member of the Stu dent Senate, has performed con sistently above and beyond the call of duty. The Student Senate chooses the recipient of this award. 4. THE DIVISION OF NATURAL SCIENCES AND ENGINEER ING SCHOLARSHIP The Division of Natural Sciences and Engineering presents two scholarships to outstanding students pursuing their degrees in the Division's own four year majors. The scholarships exemplify the com mitment of Natural Sciences and Engineering faculty in giving special recognition to deserving students. They are provided from the royalties derived from Hehrend College sales of a widely adopted mathematics text authored by Professors Roland Larson, Robert Hostetler, and David Heyd. 5. ACADEMIC AWARDS Academic awards are presented in several disciplines to students who excel in a specific field of study. Recipients are selected by faculty members. The academic awards are presented at the annual Honors and Awards Ceremony each sPriaS ants must apply for the following scholarships. The Kunkle Scholarship aids and recognizes outstanding students at Penn State campuses who need funds to meet necessary college expenses. Scholarship recipients must ex emplify good citizenship, give evidence of leadership, and ex hibit professional promise. These scholarships are awarded by a committee on the basis of the aforementioned qualifies and financial need. For the 1981412 academic year, fifteen Kunkle Scholarships were awarded to Behrend students. Application information is available ki the Student Affairs Office. THE BEHREND 'COLLEGE FACULTY WOMEN AND WIVES SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship, presented an nually by the Behrend College Associate of Faculty Women and Wives, is directed to outstan ding seventh - and eighth - term baccalaureate students in a Behrend College major. A com mittee compaied of regimen tally& of the Association of Faculty Women and Wives and a Member of the Student Affairs Office selects the scholarship recipient (s). Consideration for tbe scholarship is based on the criteria set up by the association and includes the following: - the student must be pursuing a Behrend College major. - the student must be in his/her sixth or seventh term, at the time of submitting the original scholarship application. - the student must be enrolled on a full-time basis and must be in good academic standing. Watch for further information about the application procedure for the Faculty Woman and Wives Scholarship during spring term. THE PENN STATE BEHREND COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship is directed to all potential freshman at Betwend College. Consideration is given to those who have achiev ed superior academic records, have distinguished themselves by extracurricular involvement and service, and have documented financial need. Students must file appropriate financial aid ap plications in order to be considered. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate students enrolled as baccalaureate degree can didates who have completed at least three terms, and who have achieved superior academic records or manifest promise of outstanding academic success.
