Former AMSCO Exec
Serves As Lecturer
Frank Plasha, retired AMSCO
executive, is bringing his ex
pertise to the classroom at
Behrend College Penn State.
The former vice president of
employee and public relations at
AMSCO is currently serving as
lecturer in Behrend's Division of
Social and Behavioral Sciences.
Drawing on his years of ex
perience in the areas of personnel
and labor relations, Plasha is
t eaching a course in labor studies
and industrial relations. The
course is an introductory
analysis of unions, management
and related topics
Until his retirement from
AMSCO last November after 14
years employment there, Plasha
had accumulated some 30 years
experience in personnel and
labor relations. He also served
three years as international
representative for a major labor
union.
Teaching is not new to Plasha.
He has also taught personnel and
management and labor relations
courses in Behrend's Continuing
Education evening school. At
Cornell University he served as
instructor and public relations
director for the School of
Industrial and Labor Relations as
well as lecturer in the Cornell
Extension Division. He also
taught similar subjects at the
University of Cincinnati.

some 25,000 members.
He has served as arbitrator for
AFCSME Union and the Com
monwealth of Pennsylvania;
chairman of the American
Management Association
seminars on recruiting, em
ployment, and manpower
management; national com
mittee member, "Jobs for
Veterans."
Plasha plays an active role in
many Erie area civic and
charitable organizations and also
serves as consultant to local
industries.
Earlier this year he was
elected president of Personal
Advancement Institute Inc., an
Erie-based full service human
resources consulting firm.
He has published articles in the
AMA Personnel, McGraw-Hill
Chemical Engineering, ASPE
The Personnel Administrator,
Fortune and The Office.
He has his B.S. degree in
business administration and
journalism from West Virginia
Institute of Technology and his
M.S. degree in industrial and
labor relations from Cornell.

Nine Vie For BB Pitching Spot
The baseball season for
Behrend is going fairly well as
the slates find them at 7 and 6.
Coach Clarence Stoner and Mike
Folga have been assisting the
players who comprise Behrend's
1979-80 Men's Baseball Team.
This season, there were nine
potential pitchers. First was
Greg Breski. Greg is a commuter
from Lawrence Park, Pa. He
graduated from Iroquois High
School and is , now a sophomore
majoring in D.U.S., he's 20 years
old, 5'10" tall, and weights 175
lbs.
Next is sophomore Cliff
Caldwell. Cliff attended Cam
bridge Springs High School in
Cambridge Springs, PA., lives on
second floor Perry, and majors in
Accounting. He's 19 years old,
6'l, and weighs in at 175.
Then we have a trio of Erieites
with John Greulich, Scott
Klimow, and Rich Ragen. John is
a commuting graduate of Erie
Cathedral Prep who comes in at
6'l", 170 lbs. He's a 21 year old
senior majoring in Business
Management.
Scott is a 20 year old junior who
came to us from Academy High
School. He's 6'o, 160 lbs., and
commutes to school. Scott is
majoring in Psychology.

Rich, who is 5'11",170 lb., is the
second of our two commuting
graduates of Iroquois High
School. A freshman here at
Behrend, Rich is 18 years old and
his major is D.U.S.
Women's Softball Establishes Stronghold

Women's Softball Takes Control
With this year's season half
over the Women's Softball Team
has established a stronghold at
the top of the league with a record
of five wins and two loses. This
seems of little consequence since
the team's batting average of .337
has produced a remarkable
thirteen runs per game.
The team's top batter, Lee Ann
Kolo, has an average of .450 and
has seven RBl's. As 'pitcher, Lee
Ann has two wins and two loses to
her credit.

Our sixth pitcher - is 6'1",185 lb.
Jeff Carter, a graduate of
Saegertown High School in
Saegertown, PA. Jeff's an 18 year
old freshman and a D.U.S. major.
He lives on third floor Lawrence.
Our sophomore pitcher from
Wexford, Pa. is 20 year old Dave
Christian. Dave, coming in at
5'7", 160 lbs., attended Richland
High School and lives on third
floor Lawrence. His major is
Engineering.
Our third of four freshman
pitchers is 19 year old Wayne
Hehnbreck, Wayne, who's 6'l",
165 lbs., is a graduate of General
McLane High School in Edinboro,
Pa.
The last freshman pitcher we
have is Bill Juranovich from
Sharon, Pa. Bill graduated from
Sharon High School and now
majors in Community
Development. Another dormie
from third floor Lawrence, Bill
measures s'B" tall, weights 170
lbs. and is 19 years old.
Going on to the other positions,
we find three Canevin High
School graduates from Pitt
sburgh, Pa. First we have 6', 195
lb. Jim Kaczorowski, a D.U.S.
major here. "Kaz" is a fresh
man, 19 years old, and has been
playing between first base and
center. He lives on first floor
Perry.
Also from Canevin and living
on first floor Perry is Jim
"Jimbo" Sciulli. A freshman
coming in at s'B, 150 lbs., Jimbo
plays second base. He's 19 years
old and is majoring in Liberal
Arts and Sciences.

Second base person Patty
Bowley, posseses a .407 batting
average with S RBl's.
Outfielder Lisa Simpson is also
right up at the top with a nice
round .400 for her batting
average
Captain of the team, short-stop
Kathy Roiph has a batting
average of .391, 8 RBl's and in
addition has stolen seven bases
this season.
Centertielder, Mary Rose leads
the team with 12 RBl's.

bases. Her batting average is

In the Women's Keystone
Conference the team has one win
and one defeat on record. Time is
on their side though, since they
still have six games left to play in
the Conference.
"We won the conference last
year," said Coach Wilson, "and if
we play well, we have a chance of
being in the top three. We're
looking hard at number one!"
