Special Events and Activities
The Behrend College com
munity celebrates special events
throughout the year. Some of
these events are held university
wide, while others are unique to
Behrend College. All students are
encouraged to participate in the
festivities.

The Student Union Board has
developed Autumn Weekend as a
tradition at Behrend College. Ac
tivities include a hayride and bon
fire on Friday evening, the
Autumn Dance on Saturday, and a
road rally on Sunday.
ALL-UNIVERSITY DAY
Every fall, the University spon
sors an excursion to University
Park to enable Behrend students
to take part in All-University Day.
All of the Penn State campuses
participate in the event, which
provides an oppOrtunity for
Behrend students to become
acquainted with the University
Park Campus, as well as to attend
a football game and a concert.
HANGING OF THE GREENS
The Hanging of the Greens is an
annual Christmas ceremony at
Behrend College. A wreath is
placed on the Behrend grave, and
a Christmas message is presented
to the Behrend community in the
chapel at Wintergreen Cemetery.
Carols are sung, prayers are said,
and best wishes are extended for a
pleasant holiday.

Resolution of Student
Classroom Problems. Students
are occasionally confronted with
classroom situations (exclusive of
grades and grading) which may
cause some concern. Directives
and examples in this regard ap
pear on pp. 2,5, Policies and'
Rules for Students, 19711-80. Any
additional questions should be
directed to Dean Harshbarger.
Each, student is provided with
an ID c*rd at the start of his-her
first term at !Upbraid. At each
registration, the 11) card is
validated with a sticker indicating
enrollment for the current term.

The highlight of the winter term
is the Winter Carnival sponsored
by the Student Union Board.
Students have the chance to par
ticipate in skiing and tobogganing
races, a snow sculpturing contest,
and other activities. The winter
celebration includes a semi
formal dance, providing the per
fect touch to a winter weekend.
SPRING WEEK
The energy and enthusiasm of
every member of the Behrend
community are involved in the
preparation and festivities of
Spring Week. The celebration of
spring is expressed through a
variety of social and cultural ac
tivities that are held on the
Behrend Campus.
Those students who have con
tributed throughout the year to co
curricular activities or who have
achieved academic honors are
recognized at the Honors and
Awards Convocation held in the
spring. Faculty, staff, family, and
friends join together to honor the
award recipients.
Behrend's varsity athletes are
honored at the annual Athletic
'Awards Banquet, usually held the
last weekend prior to spring term
final exams. Parents and guests
are encouraged to attend.

Message
The 18-'79 Student Senate
would like to extend a warm
welcome to thoBe of you who are
entering The Pennsylvania State
University at The Behrend
College during the '79-'BO school
year. You are about to begin a
journey which may lead you to
many new and different places.
Along the way you will meet new
people and enjoy various kinds of
experiences. We would like to
suggest that in order to round out
your college education and
guarantee some fun, you get in
volved in some of the activities
Behrend has to offer. There are
many clubs and organizations
available or you may choose to
start your own, following simple
procedures furnished by the
Student Senate.
The Senate will be holding elec
tions shortly after everyone
arrives in the fall. We urge you to
join in and lend us the support we
need to make this school year a
memorable one! Please feel free
to call upon any member of your
Student Government, at any time,
if you have any questions or
suggestions.
