Hey, folks, get moving for those
tickets to the Frankie Valli and
the Four Seasons Concert on
Sunday, October 9, at 8:00 p.m. at
the Erie County Fieldhouse.
Tickets are on sale at the RUB
desk at $6.00 and $7.00 or $4.50
and $5.50 with an activity card.
Come and sign up for the Pool,
Ping Pong, and Chess Tour
naments at the RUB main desk,
tomorrow, October 7.
Registration will be all day
tomorrow until 5 p.m. The
Tournaments will begin Tuesday,
October 11, at 7 p.m. and con
clude Wednesday, October 19.
Winners win a trip to the regional
inter-collegiate tourneys. Good
Luck!
As for movies, this Saturday,
October 8, “Straw Dogs” with
Dustin Hoffman will be shown at
6:30 and at 9:00 p.m. By the way,
the horror series is still on;
“Phantom of the Opera” will be
shown Wednesday, October 12, at
Dolly Sings Welcome To New Faces
HELLO, DOLLY! Auditions set
for Playhouse. The Erie
Playhouse has announced
auditions for their big musical
smash HELLO, DOLLY starring
Erie’s favorite leading
lady ... Miss Rita Doubet. The
production will be directed by
David Matthews with Judy
Matthews handling the musical
direction. Charles Corritore will
choreograph and Jeff Palotas
will design the production’s sets
with Joe Hassler lighting the
turn-of-the-century piece.
Auditions are being held three
nights: Sunday, October 9, as
8:30 p.m.; Monday, October 10, at
7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, October 11,
at 7:30 p.m.
AH auditions will be held at 1035
State Street. Those auditioning
are asked to bring something to
sing. Mr. Corritore is par
ticularly looking for some new
faces to fill out the dancing

Help! Let me out! I’m innocent
I tell you! Why was I dragged
here? Why am I bound to a hard,
stiff chair? Why me? What did I
do to deserve this? Let me out, I
tell you! H-h-e-e-l-l-l-l-p-p-p-p-!
At least I can wiggle my toes.
My fingers have long lost any
feeling in them. My eyes are
watered and crossed from
straining to see. They say I only

Autumn Weekend is coming up

great time you will have if you
participate in the activities
scheduled. Friday night, you’re
in for a hayride suprise which
departs from the RUB parking lot
at 8 p.m. Immediately following
will be a Bonfire south of the
campus on Jordan Road at 10
p.m. Saturday is the
Homecoming Dance. It will be
held at. the Lakeview Country
Club, and tickets are sold at the
RUB desk for $25.00 or $20.00 with
an activity card. Get your tickets
now. Sunday the Road Ralley will
be held at 12:30 p.m. “The
Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’
Smarter Brother” will be shown
at 6:30 and at 9 p.m.
Don’t forget to attend the
Coffee House, Wednesday,
October 19, at 9 p.m. Donuts, pop,
tea and coffee will be sold.

Miss Doubet’s Dolly. The show
calls for character of all
ages ... so give it a try. The
Playhouse is always seeking new
talent and Dolly is a dream show
that everyone will love being a
part of.
Performances are scheduled
November 17-20 and 25-26. Any
questions can be directed to the
Playhouse at 455-1501. Anyone
unable to attend auditions should
contact Mr. Matthews or Mr.
Corritore prior to auditions to
make special arrangements for
auditioning.

“This Is Our Thing” They Did It

“A unique musical experience”
is the best way to describe the
performance of Chuck Ven
trella’s Concourse last Thursday
evening in the RUB lecture hall.
Concourse’s exciting style of
progressive jazz and outstanding
technical ability became evident
on numbers written by con
temporary jazz artists such as
Herbie Hancock, Randy Weston,
and Miles Davis as well as their
own compositions.

circumstance arises. It did so in
the floods of 1972 and 1975.
Reeher said the Agency has been
in contact with the financial aid
community throughout the state
to enlist their cooperation in
working with and identifying
flood victims so that their
academic future would not be
impaired by disruption due to the
tragedy.

leader Chuck Ventrella, put it:
“This is our thing; a small but
enthusiastic audience.” It did
indeed seem to be their thing and
the band seemed to enjoy playing
for the crowd as much as the
audience enjoyed listening.
All of the members of Con
course are from Erie and have
been together for about a year.
They include Chuck Ventrella,
woodwinds; Bob Lasky, guitar;
Dave Baltz, bass; Rick Lopez,
drums; and Josef Scutella on
precussion. A former Concourse
member, Doug Werner, made a
Behrend Hosts Cancer Program
The Behrend College Health
Service and the American Cancer
Society, Erie County Unit, are co
sponsoring a program on cancer
called “Listen to Your Body.” It
takes place at Behrend for the
purpose of educating students
and general public who wish to
learn about early detection
methods and possible-prevention
of various forms of cancer.
The next in the series of
programs will be held oh October
27 in theRUB Lecture Hall at 8:00
p.m. and is called, “Save a Wife,

concert. Werner performed an
exotic and exciting piece on the
tamboura, an Indian instrument
similar to the sitar. Doug left
Concourse to pursue his studies of
Indian music in New York City.
Concourse performs for night
clubs and concert spots in the
Erie area and will performing at
Edinboro State College on
November 11. If you would like to
hear some excellent im
provisational jazz, you should
take in this performance of
Chuck Ventrella’s Concourse.
It’ll be well worth your time.
Save a Life.” This lecture will be
aimed primarily at the male
members of the audience and will
define the man’s responsibility in
safeguarding the health of the
woman he is close to. Emotional
support, warning signals, and
prompt treatment will be the
topics.
There will be seven programs
in the series, providing facts
which could prove invaluable.
