The women’s softball club
opened their season last Saturday
with a 11-3 trouncing of Gannon
College on a nine strike out
performance by Beth linger.
The team travels to Mercyhurst
to face the Lakers Thursday.
Saturday, the women play the
first home game against
Allegheny at 4:00 p.m.
Behind the pitching of A 1 Maki
and a no-hit performance by
freshman Todd Kresge, the
men’s varsity baseball team is
now 3-2. In an early season, Steve
Murawski is leading the team
with a .400 batting average (4 for
10). Tom Lawless (.389), Joe
McCormick (.357) and Pat Davis
(.308) follow closely. The team
faced Gannon yesterday, but the
results were not available at
press time. The next home game
is Saturday at one against Point
Park College.
On Saturday, April 30, 1977,
from two until five, an ex
tramural softball tournament
will be held on the Behrend
Softball fields. Going against
teams from Gannon and Mer
cyhurst, Behrend will field two
co-ed teams comprised of five
males and five females each. For

“Have A Ball”, the first annual
Warren Behrend Athletic
Association Dance, will be held
Saturday night from 9 p.m. until 1
a.m. at Rainbow Gardens. Music
will be provided by Changing
Faces. Reservations, at ten
dollars per couple, are available
by calling 989-1511 or 868-4256.
Another Rifle Club Fun Match
will be held on May 5 due to the
popularity of the previous one.
Snuffing out candies, shooting
pennies, and other “fun things”
will be the major occurrences at
the Lawrence Park Rifle Club.
Admission is a dollar which in
cludes rifle and all ammunition.
A party will immediately follow.
The men’s varsity golf team is
now (0-3) following discouraging
losses to Mercyhurst (394-440),
and, in a tri-match, to Grove City
and Duquesne (390-427-442). The
team travelled to Geneva to face
Geneva and St. Vincent on
Tuesday, but results were not
available at press time.Thiel and
Highland will be their next op
ponents on Friday at Thiel.
