Preregistration again
Students Take Note
Many students seem to be
confused about the purpose of
validation and the relationship of
pre-registration to registration
under the pre-registration
system adopted last term. It is
loop.d that, the information given
will clarify those points.
Every student must go through
registration which is held one or
two days before classes start
each term. Preregistering does
not excuse you from registration
even if you validate your
schedule. However,
preregistration does offer ad
vantages:
If you preregister, you may
validate your schedule—that is,
"Cuckoo ll/ Coming
to. Mercyhurst
"One flew east, one flew west,
one flew over the cuckoo's nest"
best sums up the upcoming
production at the Mercyhurst
Little Theater entitled "One Flew
Over the Cuckoo's Nest." The
show itself, rather serious, rather
comic, is certainly involving and
has been one of the most popular
shows off-Broadway. Starring in
the production is Bill Frazier, as
McMurphy, who has proven his
talent in such shows as "The Lion
in Winter" as the King. Jo
Roberts 'as Nurse Ratchel, has
been in such shows as "Follies"
at the Erie Playhouse.
The cast also offers many new
faces. Lou Richards will be
portraying Billy, the withdrawn
stammering patient; Chuck Sch
midt will play Will; Tom Heuer
will be the mute Chief; Vicki
Forgac portrays Nurse Flynn;
Laura Montpetit plays Candy,
who is a rather "loose" woman
character; and Tom DeStefano
as Warren rounds out the cast.
Also appearing in "Cuckoo's
Nest" will be Ed Flook, Robert
Gaughn, Denise Corbin and Will
Shael. Ed McGraw will be por
traying the role of Dr. Spivey and
you remember Barb Wills from
"Gamma Rays" as she plays
Sandra, Candy's partner in
"loose activities". Although
some of the cast members are
novices of the stage the show is
pulling together in dynamite
form.
Don't miss this fantastic show.
"Cuckoo's Nest" opens May 9
And runs through the 10th, 11th,
and 12th at 8:30 with a matinee on
the 12th at 2:30. The box office
opens May 1 so be sure to call 864-

vations. Also don't " forget to

sign for the courses you have
been given and hold your place in
those courses. This gives you a
confirmed schedule for the
coming term before you leave for
the term break. .
If you preregister and validate
your schedule, you do not need to
come back a day ahead of
registration for advising. You
need only come back for
registration itself.
If you validate your schedule at
preregistration, you will go
through an abbreviated process
at registration.
Students who do not
preregister, or who preregister
but do not validate a schedule,
will have to see their advisors the
day before registration and go
through the longer registration
process.
It is the student's responsibility
to know the date of registration
and to be on hand at the assigned
time. Early in August in
structions will be mailed for
registration to all students at
their home address. If these
instructions are not received
within a reasonable period of
time before classes start, we
suggest telephoning the
Academic Affairs Office for the
information. Students who do not
appear for registration at the
stated time will be charged a late
registration fee of $lO.
Write Song and
The songwriter has been called
the poet and philosopher of his
time. He may be the historian as
well. Songwriting is a fun and
healthy way to express
emotions—love, protest, friend
ship. Songwriting is story-telling
and poetry. Today there is no
more effective way to reach,
influence and affect people than
through music.
The American Song Festival is
the first international com
petition for songwriting ever to
be held in the United States and
the first in the world ever to be
open to amateurs as well as
professionals. The Festival is
designed to encourage and salute
those who believe they can write
a song and are willing to try.
There are two divisions of
competition—amateur and
professional—and six categories
of music. There is also a special
non-competitive category for
novelty music such as marches,
children's songs, etc. An entrant
may submit his song for judging
in any category he feels his song
best fits.

discussion will then follow at
which time questions of the
audience will be answered. The
panel consists of Dr. Namey, a
physician in the Erie area who
has helped rape victims with
physical and emotional problems,
Captain Hill and Mr. Lubiejewski
of the District Attorney's office
who will be able to answer the
legal questions.
