Spend Summer
Sightseeing
The Soviet travel agency IN
TOURIST has confirmed the
itinerary for the Edinboro State
College group which will live and
study in the USSR from June 13 to
July 12 this coming summer.
Several spaces are also available
for persons who are not ESC
students.
The new itinerary, which is still
subject to last minute changes,
now includes 24 days in the
Leningrad-Gulf of Finland area, 2
days in Moscow, and at no extra
cost, 2 days in Paris before
returning to the USA. •
The cost of the program—also
subject to change—will be $406
per person for the land
arrangements in the USSR, based
*on double occupancy, first class
in Leningrad, and tourist class 2-3
in a room in Dyuny. Full board,
transfers and porterage, sight
seeing, and rail transportation (4-
berth compartments) from
Leningrad to Moscow are in
cluded.
The round trip air fare—also
subject to change—is currently
$397, with the trans-Atlantic flight
originating and terminating in
Toronto, Cargida. The old youth
fare, from New York, which was
$322 prior to January 1, has been,.
regrettably, eliminated in the
USA. Persons who have reached
their 22nd birthday will have to
pay the 22-45 day excursion rate
of $562.50. Additional expenses
will include approximately $l2
for a Soviet visa and the cost of
transportation to Toronto.
The 24-day seminar will include
four hours of formal classroom
instruction daily in homogeneous
groups of no more than 10
'students in each class; mass
Lectures by Soviet professors
specializing in various aspects of
Soviet Culture and Civilization;
and tours to schools, universities,
Openings
Still Exist
Behrend Collegian openings
still exist in all aspects of jour
nalism. No experience is
necessary in most of the
departments.
The one field where some ex
perience would be preferred is
that of photography. If anyone
has had some type of experience
in this field and would like to work
on the photography staff of - the
newspaper please stop down in
the newsroom. Office hours are
from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Another department where we
are desperately lacking in talent
is that of the ad staff. Commuters
are especially welcome here. Any
gas mileage will be paid for by
the Collegian.
SGA Refuses JRC Petition Again
(Continued from Page 1)
Armstrong and Mike Chiricuzio
reported on what has been done so
far. The immediate problem
seems to have been resolved as
far as the gym goes and it is
hoped that the problem can be
entirely resolved over the
summer.
Jack King made his report on
the elections committee. This
spring a concentrated effort is
being made by the committee to
reach the commuters. On April

instructional program will be for

ROTC Offers Experience
University Park—Any transfer
student who has been accepted at
the University Park campus is
eligible for one of the three
divisions of the two-year ROTC
program at University Park.
Benefits of the two-year program
include full and partial
scholarships at the university.
Those students accepted into
the two ,year program must at
tend a seven-week summer
session for two consecutive
summers, between the
sophomore and junior year and
the junior and senior year.
The first summer is spent at the
Newport Rhode Island Naval
Indoctrination Institute.
Activities at the institute include
courses in ship stability, ship
building and ship history.
JRC Continues Attempt
(Continued from Page 1)
Another function of JRC as
stated in its constitution is to
"sponsor activities oriented
toward the welfare of the resident
students and resolve resident
student problems." The JRC has
sponsored various activities, one
in particular being the bowling
party at which commuters and
resident students shared at
tendance, throughout the year.
In regard to the part about
resolving resident problems it
has been thrown out to JRC that
they are not doing their job. It
18, the candidates will present
their platforms during common
hour in the RUB lecture hall.
Another series of speeches will be
given that evening in the same
location for the students who
can't make it during common
hour. The elections will be held on
April 23 and 24.
Other topics at Monday's
meeting were the nominating of
students to assist the Student
Affair Committee. They include

Registration for summer term will be June 5 from 6-9 p.m. in Erie
Hall
The second summer of training
is usually spent aboard ship
where the student has both the
opportunity of learning to take
orders from those officers over
him, and also how to display
qualities of leadership while
directing men ranking under him.
Each student is paid $.45 a
month for both summers.
Six week programs of two
consecutive summers are
required for those enrolled in the
two-year program. Students are
sent to one of 15 bases in the
Pennsylvania area. At these
bases, students practice such
activities as drilling and mar
ching. Classes are offered
featuring a variety of subjects
ranging from the handling of
weapons to the history of the Air
must be realized that in order to
do this job, JRC has to be made
aware of the problems that exist
directly and not through the
suggestion . of another
organization.
The biggest controversy,
however, isn't the function of
JRC, rather, it is the unequal
representation. Tom Ruff dealt
with this situation by stating that
"I think we should be more
concerned with the pertinent
rather than equal representation
on the SGA."
Darla Berkey, Jeff Lang, Bob
Lammary, and Dave Scypinski.
Jim Armstrong, Mike Carte,
and Nancy Lindholm were
nominated for the Walker award.
