Dallas Picked as
Super Bowl Champs

Well, folks, it's time for the
game everyone's been waiting
for, Super Bowl VI between the
Dallas Cowboys and the Miami
Dolphins.
Head coach Tom Landry of the
Cowboys calls this his best squad
in Dallas history. It all starts with
quarterback Roger Staubach, the
N.F.C.'s No. 1 passer. Roger, a
former Heisman Trophy winner
can both run when he has to and
pass with great accuracy. Then
they have the combination of
Calvin Hill and Duane Thomas,
making Dallas the N.F.C.'s 2nd
best rushing offense. They have
an excellent offensive line, great
receivers in Lance Allworth and
Bob Hayes, good tight ends in
Billy Truax and Mike Ditka. On
defense, statistics show they
were No. 1 in rushing defense and
No. 2 in total defense. They have
an excellent pass rush led by
Kelly's Hotel

massive Jethro Pugh, very good
linebackers and good defensive
backs. They have a lot of depth
on the bench. Their field goal
kicker Mike Clarke is good but
not the best. Dallas scored con
vincing victories over both
Minnesota and San_ Francisco
after finishing the season 11-3.
Miami ended the season 11-3
and went is as underdogs to
Kansas City in their first playoff
game. In -that game they just
refused to lose and with a little bit
of help from Jan Stenerud they
won. Against the Colts they
refused to make mistakes, took
advantage of Baltimore's
mistakes, and crushed the Colts
21-0. The Dolphins center their
hopes around quarterback Bob
Griese. This man is made up of a
sensational football mind, a good
arm, and great scrambling
ability. He enjoys picking apart
defenses and with Paul Warfield
catching his passes. Also you
can't forget the combination of
Larry Csonka and Jim Klick. The
defense is lead by linebacker
Nick Bonnicotti but they are not
ranked as one of the best. If this
game goes down to a field goal,
they will definitely have the edge
with Garo Yupremian.
But considering the facts,
Dallas will stop Csonka and
Kiick, Mel Renfro will reasonably
hold Paul Warfield to a fair
game, and the Dallas offense with
a lot of power should win a hard
fought game and emerge as the
World Champion.

Two Wins

The grapplers of Behrend
Campus hiked their record to 2
wins and 4 losses by winning 2 out
of 3 matches in the Lorain
Community College
quadrangular wrestling tour
nament last Saturday.
The Cubs, who finished second
in the tourney, lost the opener to
host Lorain 30-22, but bounced
back to defeat Tri-State of
Indiana 34-18 and Hillsdale of
Michigan 42-15.
Five Behrend wrestlers
finished the tourney un-touched

as they defeated every opponent
that crossed their path. The list
includes undefeated Julio
DiMarco (6-0), and Paul Jazenski
(5-0), and also Larry Fabrizi (4-
2), Mike Kerr (4=2), and Torn
Staszewski (3-3).
The Cubs started the season off
slowly by losing to three powerful
opponents. Against Boyce they
dropped a 40-8 decision as Julio
DiMarco and Paul Jazenski were
the only winners for Behrend.
DiMarco was the lone winner as
Clarion defeated Behrend 31-3 for
the second loss of the season.
The third loss came at the
hands of Erie Community College
28-21 in a hard fought contest. The
match see-sawed back and forth
as DiMarco (118 lb), Kerr (126

"It's remarkable, simply
unbelievable. A kid comes out for
wrestling for the first time in his
life, and he not only won two
matches but he pinned both op
ponents."
These were the words of
wrestling coach Ed Onorato
concerning the performance of
this week's outstanding athlete,
John Hotchkiss.
John, who has never wrestled
before, amazed his coach and
teammates with two pim last
weekend in the Lorain Cam
munity College wrestling tour
nament.

(177 lb) easily disposed of their
opponents. Tom Staszewski (190
lb) lost a heartbreaking, bloody
contest 7-5 which proved to be the
turning point in the match.
The Cubs, with two wins
already under their belt, only
have to win one more match to
break the old record of two wins
inane season.'
Coach Onorato is confident that
his chargers will shatter the old
record. "The boys have improved
steadily and should surprise a
few people before the season is
over".
Behrend takes to the road for
the next few matches and will not
return home until January 28.
Hotchkiss is a special never
say-die type - of athlete. After
losing the first three matches of
the season, most kids would enter
the that with an-attitude of just
laying low and trying riot to get
pinned. But not John. He always
enters each match with a burning
desire to win. His efforts were
finally rewarded last Saturday.
Coach Onorato further com
mented, "John is learning more
and more each day and with his
attitude, he is becoming a big
asset to the team."
Hotchkiss hails from Nor
thwestern High School where he
participated in Cross Country.
John also kept busy in the fall by
playing on the Behrend soccer
team.
