Page Two Editorial Opinion- New Registration A Little Bit Easier "Things get a little bit easier once you understand." In the words of a currently popular song, let it be known that it is absolutely impossible for anyone to come through a Penn State •registration unscathed. It is quite possible that throughout the average Penn State student's academic career, the only thing that keeps him going is the fading hope that the next registration might be just a little bit better. However, as the term standing goes up the flickering light of hope goes down. Certainly the most recent registration fiasco at the Behrend Campus is in keeping with the traditional image. It goes without saying that some of the burden of bldme rests on the studentsthemselves. If it could be driven into the minds of some of the students that attend Behrend to make an honest effort to pre register, some of the screams of outrage that shatter the air at registration would be toned down to a great extent. The entire blame cannot be laid upon the students however. The Administration itself is certainly responsible for many of the problems that arise at registration. Apparently many of the ad visors have not been informed that certain classes are going to be limited to science majors or that only a very limited number of students are being admitted in a particular course. Such in formation would definitely eleviate some of the problems caused by what evidently seems to be a universal attempt at scheduling biology II at the same time. • The change from registration by term standing to registration by colleges has also caused many problems for students. This shift in procedure has made it nigh unto impossible for students with term standing as high as sixth and seventh to get health and gym classes. The advisors themselves sometime leave something to be desired. Many students find it almost impossible to locate their advisors in order to receive their No. 2 card. It is also rather dif ficult to adequately pre-register when the professor does not really understand the requirements of your major so that he can help the student choose the courses he needs. The end result is a student putting together his own haphazard schedule. With another registration under the belts of Behrend students, let it be once again hoped that things will get a little bit better Spring Term.
