If you are interested in em
ployment in the Federal govern
ment after graduation the
Federal Service Entrance Exam
(FSEE) is your avenue of entry
into this type of work. The FSEE
offers a college graduate the
opportunity to be considered for
over 200 occupations in some 50
federal agencies all over the
country.
Upon taking the test and
meeting the qualifications, you
may be employed in one of many
types of positions such as ad
ministrative assistant, computer
specialist, customs inspector,
personnel specialist, narcotics

FSEE's are given on a walk-in
basis on the third Saturday of
each month, except - August,
September, and December. They
can be taken in Erie at the U.S.
Post Office and Court House,
Sixth and South Park Row. For

Blues Rock Distinctive
In Realm of Today's Music
In these complicated times we
have gone through every type of
rock from raga rock to soft rock
to death rock, yet therf still
remains to be anything to come
near blues rock. Rock and roll
grew out of blues, it was whitened
up for exposure to teenage
america by infections of hillbilly
music and folkksy ballads but to
Afro-American
Established At
The Afro-American Studies
Option has been established
within both the Humanities and
Social Science programs at
Capitol Campus, and will be
offered in the Fall Term, 1971.
The option recognizes that
Afro-American studies is a field
of enormous breadth, com
plexity, and importance.
Graduates of the option with
appropriate electives will possess
knowledge and abilities which
will enable them to work ef
fectively—and to provide
imaginative leadership—in
governmental agencies, corn
munity action programs, and
social agencies.
The perspective and insights to
be gained in the program will be
of great value to students in
terested in advanced training in
areas such as planning and law.
In view of the present demand at
all educational levels for
teachers who are knowledgeable
in the area of Afro-American
studies, graduate work in
preparation for a career in
teaching is an important
potential-opportunity for students
in'the option. At the same time,
the Afro-American Studies
Option will bolster and support

type put out by boys who know
their blues roots. The line bet
ween blues and blues rock is fine
enough, blues are stereotyped
and if handled wrong can become
parodies of themselves (Two

is a shiningly bad example), but
blues rock tunes are generally
done with full_ knowledge that the

The existence of a complete
option in'this area will make it
possible for students in business,
education, engineering, or other
programs to do more than survey
black experience. Students
outside the option may enroll in

from blues is the same element
that defines hard rock; greasy,
slimy, and malicious
organicly....but when you're
pumping all that dirty power into
a tune and shoving it down the
public's throat from a wall of
amplifiers it has a bit more of a
kick to it.
