Sports Editor .Behrend Campus posted its greatest soccer win in school history last Wednesday. Coach Herb Lauffer's crew with the two goals of all-region candidate Jim Channas-upset the second ranked junior college in the nation Lorain Community College, 2-1. It hiked Behrend Campus' season card to 4-3. The host Cubs throwing a _steel net over the Ohibn's powerful offense tied the score at 1-1 on Channas' goal at the 4:15 mark of the third- quarter. Roger Nolan provided the assist. Channas then drilled the clinches at 11:30 of the same period. Lorain scored its lone goal in the first canto when Joe Borges tallied on an assist by Jose Del Corral. Lorain, coming in with a 5-1 chart was runner-up in the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament last season. However, the invaders ran into the awesome Behrend defense led by sweeper-back Mike Marsh, along with Mike Joyce, Dave Aloiz, and Chuck Rainey. The Cubs turned in an - ironman performance with all 11 starters going the full 88 minutes. Behrend's goalie Ed Moore had 11 saves in the big upset. Last Saturday the defense minded Cubs recorded their third shutout of the season and third victory in a row as they smashed Dubois Campus 6-0. The game actually resembled a half-field scrimmage. Big Mike Marsh slammed three goals for the winners while Mike Joyce had two and Jim Channas one. John Hage and Channas each helped out with an assist. Behrend has still not yielded a goal to a Com monwealth Campus opponent in running their record to 5-3. The Cubs play their final regular season match this Saturday, October 30 at Beaver Campus before returning home to prepare for the Commonwealth Campus tournament on November 6. By joining the Booster Club a member is entitled to free ad mission to all basketball games and wrestling matches at Behrend. Without a card ad mission to these events is fifty cents.
