News TRACK: continued from front page His coach, Greg Cooper, expressed a similar senti thent, "You can certainly say that not having a fa cility has limited our suc cess, but I don't like to use the phrase 'held us back.' Track and Field has been a varsity sport for the past 12 years at Penn State Behrend, and in that time we have had a few ath letes qualify for and com pete at the NCAA championships... I know with a track and field fa cility many of those ath letes would have received that little boost they needed. Our athletes have been dedicated to being better, overcoming the obstacles set before them and improving every year. I think a new facility will make us stronger." I have held several leadership positions throughout my school years including: vice presi dent of the Excel Club, a philanthropy organization; treasurer of the Future Business Leaders of America; and editor of The Chancellor newspaper. As a trans fer student, I would like to become more involved by representing my fellow students at this school. I have excellent ideas to contribute for helping to im prove campus life. By becoming a senator on SGA I can begin my journey towards making great deci sions to influence the future of Behrend. On the other side of that coin, a new stadium would also support and service a larger gathering of spectators. Garrett Fiscus, a fresh man center midfielder for Boys Soccer said, "The addition of the stadium would improve our fan base since the field will be in a more central loca tion. Also, the stadium will certainly raise the level of soccer for our team." Behrend Athletics is competitive' and repre sentative of the Blue and White in every day deci sions to sweat, bleed, train and study hard. Support is available to these players from fellow students. The faculty and community are as com mitted to the class as they are the growth and devel opment of each student and the university as a whole. This stadium would be a monument to that growth. Something I would like to change at Behrend, because I have expe rienced this as an education major, are the limits of some majors. Many students, myself included, have had great experiences at Behrend but have to leave due to the fact that they cannot finish their major here. Therefore, if elected, I pledge to work toward getting more complete majors offered at Behrend to allow more students to stay. to even canned soup.
