Those who attended Friday's me
morial service for Behrend student
Casey Moore witnessed firsthand her
impact on the community.
A group of friends, family, class
mates, and community members gath
ered to pay respects to a fallen friend.
Moore, 30, passed away last week
as a result of major injuries sustained
during an automobile accident in
North East.
Father Dan Arnold of Catholic Cam
pus Ministry led the service.
"When it's your loss, size doesn't
seem to matter," he said, "whether it's
an earthquake in Haiti or losing a
good friend like Casey."
Though the mood was somber
throughout the service, many openly
wept - and laughed - during a period
in which students and friends shared
memories of Moore.
Some shared memories of her love
of boating, others told stories of her
compassion towards others.
"While we can't bring her back to
life physically," said Arnold, "some
how, we know she's not gone."

Nathaniel Lemock, a 21-year-old
Behrend student studying plastics engi
neering technology, died Sunday in an
automobile accident on Old Station Rd.
in Waterford Township.
According to a report by the Erie
Times-News which cites a police re
port, Lemock was driving a Honda
Civic on Old State Road Sunday morn
ing at around 11 a.m.
The car reportedly crossed the center
line before spinning off the road and
hitting a home at 1422 Old State Road.
The home's 91-year-old resident was
uninjured, according to police.
The report also cites police as saying
that Lemock was traveling at an appar
ent high rate of speed.
Lemock's 17-year-old brother was
also in the car, and was transported to
Hamot Trauma Center, where he was
treated for "major injuries." He has
since been released from the hospital
and is "doing well," according to
friends.
Lemock, known for his involvement
in student organizations on-campus
outside of classes, was in his junior
year at Behrend. He had spent Spring
Break this semester traveling to New
Orleans, La. as part of a 32-person
Penn State Behrend Alternative Spring
Break trip, to aid in hurricane relief ef
forts in the area.
According to a resume from Lemock
posted online, he was also the treasurer
of Chi Alpha Campus Ministries, and
volunteered during high school at Mir
acle Mountain Ranch Summer Volun
teer Program. He grew up in Waterford,
the site of the accident, which occurred
less than 10 miles from home.
"Nate was one of the gentlest, kindest
guys you'd ever meet," said Joel
Schreiber, a local paster who helped
support Chi Alpha. "A lot of people un
derstood what it means to be a Chris
tian by looking at how he lived and how
he treated people. That was Nate's top
priority."
A viewing will also be held on Satur
day, May 1 at 10 a.m. at Erie First As
sembly of God. The funeral service will
be at 11:30 a.m. with graveside service
following.
