Tennis tops AMCC
After a disappointing loss to Notre Dame, the Lions are on a
three game winning streak. The Lions crushed conference op
ponent Frostburg 8-1 on March 27. Behrend continues to im
prove With 11-5 on the season and 6-1 in conference play.
Junior Elliot Blackstone continued his domination on the court
with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No.l singles. Blackstone has been a
star in the past season, as he continues to rack up wins against
all opponents. Freshman Chris Galvin easily defeated his oppo
nent 6-1, 6-4 win in the N 0.2 singles.
All three doubles matches were won, showing the ability at all
spots. The team is looking to continue thier winning streak in
hopes to win the AMCCs and compete in the NCAAs.
After playing almost all of the home matches have been
played, Behrend will spend the majority of the season at home,
with seven regular season matches on the road. Behrend will
next play at 4 p.m. at Pitt-Bradford on April 31.

Records set at Carnegie Invite
During the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, the men and
women’s track and field team competed against four D-111
teams. The men took first place with 204 points and the
women earned third place with 152 points.
Four new school records were set, with three of the new
marks on the men’s side to go with one new women s record.
Five ECAC qualifying marks were reached to go with one
NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Easton Winn, Ronson Mazany, and John Bowman all fin
ished first in their events along with qualifing for the
ECAC’s.
On the women’s side, Katie Monoskey, Tanisha Wheatley,
Megjan Kronenwetter, and Mandy Wehrle all placed first in
their respective events.
The men's and women s track & field teams get right back
at it this weekend with the first of two meets heading into
the conference championships. The Behrend Lions will
compete first on Saturday at the Westminster Invitational,
followed by a meet April 24 at Baldwin-Wallace.

The sun was shining at Latrobe Country Club as the Penn State
Behrend Lions took the course in the St. Vincent Bearcat Invita
tional.
The low round for the Lions was sophomore Kevin Koerbel with
a 77, followed closely by a 78 by senior captain Joe Nelson. An
82 and an 87 for freshman Zack Polenski and Alec Italiano re
spectively. Senior Marc Neiswanner got a 94.
The match was deemed a success and shows the improvement
of the team. The team will look to defend their AMCC title. They
will play in the NCAA D-111 tournament for the first time in school
history. The tournament will take place during the first week of
May.
The Lions are back in action this weekend with a tournament
hosted by Theil College at the Greens of Greenville. Then the
Blue and White tee off in their own invitational at the Peek ‘n
Peak lower course next Thursday.
