Angela Rose, founder of PAVE (Pro moting Awareness Victim Empower ment), explained to her audience the real picture of sexual violence. Angela, who was a victim of sexual violence herself at the age of 17, told her story and how it inspired her to make others aware of the issue. “One in four women and one in six men will be directly affected by sexual violence before the age of 18. But the worst part is that sexual assault crimes are the most underreported crime in the U.S.” said Rose. Along with this, Angela made it clear that one of the best ways to deal with this type of situation, whether it affects you or someone you care about, is to tell your story. “There is no shame in being a sur vivor.” Rose also gave statistics and hints about how to recognize someone who may be dealing with sexual assault, she also demystified the truths and myths about sexual assault, such as the myth that men do not suffer from sexual assault crimes as much as fe males do.
