Loca LOCAL NEWS ERIE An Erie County judge up held the decision on Wednesday to convict Erie County Councilman Ebert G. Beeman for the fifth time of driving without a license. Reddinger, an Erie City detective, explained how he witnessed Beeman drive away from a court hearing on Oct. 20, even though his license was already sus pended for a fourth time when he drove away from the courthouse. Beeman faces a $2OO fine. MEADVILLE A Crawford County man, William King, has pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a third-degree felony count of unlawful contact and com munication with a minor. Prosecutors presented evi dence that shows King send ing sexually oriented online chats to a undercover police officer posing as a 14-year old girl, and in one chat sending the officer a video of him performing a lewd act. King will be sentenced on June 8. Police Report A coordinator reported criminal mischief in Senat Hall at 11:25 a.m. on Feb. 23. A theft from a motor vehicle in the G Lot was reported at 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 23. A report of items stolen from the REDC building was recieved at 12:00 p.m. on March 3. A theft was reported by a Senat Hall resident at 7:25 p.m. on March 5. A report of douglas fir trees being damaged in front of both Perry and Senat Hall was received at 12:00 p.m. on March 11. On March 15 at 8:00 p.m.. a Perry Construction Super intendent reported that dur ing the weekend, one of his trailers was broken into. IK'W s editor In July 2008, U.S. army cap tain Matthew Myers was in volved in one of the deadliest ground wars in Iraq in the Wanat region. Myers, along with other Li.S. troops, fought and defended a military outpost from a coordi nated attack of over 200 Tal iban fighters. Along with his comrades, Myers defended their position by calling in air strikes, some times within 10 meters of where he gave out the coordi nates. During the battle, nine US troops were killed and w'hile about 100 Taliban were killed. Myers recieved the Silver Star for his actions during the battle. But this w'ould not be the end of the story.
