Reality Check to build homes with
Habitat for Humanity in November
On Nov. 14, Reality Check will be doing a
Habitat for Humanity build in Union City,
PA.
Volunteering for community service is a
common passion for many Behrend stu
dents, and Habitat for Humanity provides an
outlet for this passion.
"I did a couple of habitats before," said
Ellie Repkova, a 7th semester international
business and finance student who is heading
the Nov. 14 build, "and actually, we worked
on the house that we'll be working on in No-

vember. We worked on the founda
tions in the spring and now the
house is standing, so I guess we'll
be working on the walls next."

"I think there's at least one build
per month," continued Repkova,
"basically, any student organization
that wants to do a build with Habi
tat can sign up for one with Cynara
Stubbs, who coordinates these kind
of service projectd."
"This upcoming build is being
sponsored by reality check," said
Repkova, "but I know a lot of the
time, Greek organizations will
sponsor a build."
"They organized
two builds already this
year, but no one really
showed up for them," said Rep
kova. "I think it was because
they weren't really well adver
tised. I'm actually in kind of a
weird situation because I have
more people who want to go
than we have space to take them.
We can take 12 people, and
about 14 sign up, which is good
if people who signed upcan't
make it."

at Behrend
Delta Chi is doing their monthly
collection for the Messiah
Lutheran Church.
This month, the church has
,asked for donations of Instant
Oatmeal to gather and deliver be
fore the end of the third week to
be blessed in church.
Last month, Delta Chi gathered
shampoo and collected over 30
bottles for the church. They
showed their appreciation for our
efforts by recognizing us in their
weekly newsletter and thanking
us for accommodating their re-
quests.
Delta Chi also will be involved
in the Belle Valley Fire Depart
ment's haunted house which takes
place at 1514 Norcross Road every
Friday and Saturday of October
beginning at 7:30. Admission is
just $5 and all proceeds benefit
Belle Valley Fire Department.
Delta Chi will be volunteering
for the 30th of October to support
the BVF'D in their efforts to scare
