A Crawford County jury de liberated for four and a half hours before announcing their verdict in the case of Melvnda K. French. The jury found French not guilty of the more serious charge of third-degree murder. A jury of seven women and five men began their delibera tions shortly before 11 a.m. in the trial of 25-year-old French, who was accused of causing in juries to toddler Kierstan A. Bressette that led to the child’s death in February 2008. MILLCREEK Millcreek township Police received a report Thursday of a strong-armed robbery in a parking lot at Millcreek Mall. The victim was knocked down after getting out of her car in the JCPennev parking lot on Tuesday. The victim, who wished to re main anonymous, said that money and credit cards were taken from her purse, but she could not identity' her attacker. Police said they had not made any arrests in the case. Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong will get a new lawyer before she heads to trial on charges stemming from the August 2003 bombing death of pizza deliveryman Brian Wells. U.S. District Judge Sean J. McLaughlin granted Diehl- Armstrongs request to fire her lawyer this afternoon in a hear ing in U.S. District Court. McLaughlin said Diehl-Arm strong, 60, has a deep-seated distrust and antipathy toward her current lawyer, Tom Patton, an assistant federal public de fender. Diehl-Armstrong claims Pat ton makes her physically ill. She said she does not believe he is aggressive enough. CORRY The site tor Friday s football game between Girard High School and Cony High School football game has been moved to Cony's Howard Sheen Field. The game was to have been played at McDowell High School s Gus Anderson Field. Howard Sheen Field experi enced construction delays with its new turf, forcing Corry to play its first home game at War ren's War Memorial Stadium. The field was completed this week, however.
