During the contest, mem
bers from Alpha Sigma Tau
walked through the audience
with bags to collect change for
each contestant. Contestants
were dually judged with a
point system based on how
they performed during the
pageant, and the amount of
change they raised both from
the evening and from the
change wars held last week.
After a close call, the new
Mr. and Ms. Penn State
Behrend were selected for
2009. Taking on the crown for
Mr. Penn State Behrend was
Kyle Logue, and Alex Ley car
ried away the title for Ms.
Penn State Behrend.
"It feels absolutely awe
some," Logue says. "As soon as
I entered I was it in it to win. If
you're going to do it, do it
right."
Logue says he prepared for
the event with a trip to Wal-
Mart, which was mostly for his
beachwear look. The ensem
ble involved a snorkel, gog
gles, and a horse inner tube.
Ley said that the experience
was a little nerve wracking, as
she had come directly from the
Alpha Sigma Alpha initiation
What's Inside
International film festival shows The Flower of Evil
An unfamiliar sound drifted
through the halls of the Reed
Union Building on April 6.
Rather than rock, jazz, or the
bustle of students between
classes, the air was full of
French singer Marie-Louise
Damien's mysterious voice. In
Reed 117, a large crowd of stu
dents gathered to view another
installment of the International
Film Festival at Behrend:
Claude Chabrol's The Flower of
Evil.
The French film, released in
2003, featured a plot which
intertwined humanity and the
beauty within it with the ugli
ness of murder, corruption, and
sexual deviance. To an audience
of college students, a foreign
film might seem a little out-of
context.

Emma Hahn named AMCC
Freshman pitcher Emma Hahn was named the AMCC
pitcher of the week for the week of April 5, 2009.
"To be honest, I had no idea I was named the pitcher
of the week until we had a team meeting and my coach
mentioned it to me on my way out," said Hahn. "I was
very excited to hear the news but I'm happy to be part
of such a humble team. Everyone has the best interest
of each other at heart and it's a real team effort. We
don't put individual successes on a podium as much as
some teams do and I like that."

Lady Lions win doubleheader
The Lady Lions softball team had a close call this past weekend
against AMCC opponent Penn State Altoona, but a sixth inning
rally in the second game of the doubleheader led by senior Allison
Babish put the Lions ahead as they defeated Altoona in both
games.
"Because we were the AMCC Champs last year, everyone is out to
get up," said head coach Stacy Pondo. "We need to step up a notch
for each game we play."
