I am a fourth semester sophomore majoring in Psychology, and I currently sit on Student Government Association as University Faculty Senator. On campus, I am also involved in organizations such as Theta Phi Alpha, THON, Homecoming, Lion Entertainment Board, and Orientation Leaders. I am running for a 2009-2010 upperclassman seat. I hope to work with the Student Activities Fee and be very active in THON! Association. Currently I am a second semester freshman, who occupies one of the freshman senator seats on SGA. I was elected to SGA last semester through in-house nominations and eagerly anticipate this sem ster's election process. I am also involved with the Lion Entertainment Board and have recently become a brother of Kappa Delta Rho. With the volume of SGA senators graduating this year, I hope that you agree that senators with experience in the position will be more than needed this following semester. My name is Lauren Beggs and I am running for Student Government Senator. I am a very organized, focused, and quick learner. I want to run for Senator so that I can be the advocate for better changes for our campus and the Penn State community. In addition, I think I can provide more ideas to help our campus run more efficiently. I am running for the position of Senator on SGA because I feel I can bring a positive change. I have seen SGA do great things for this school and wish to be a part of that. I believe that I can bring a constructive attitude and fresh outlook to the stu dent government. As a member of the Matchbox Players of Penn State Behrend, I have seen how SGA works with clubs and organizations. I want to help SGA further promote and support student organizations. My goal will be constantly improving campus life for all of our students SGA Elections for Fall of 2009 will take place on Wednesday, April 15 and Thursday, April 16. Ten positions: Responsible for proposing resolutions, attending committe dent population. Senators represent the large voting portion of the S Association and have a direct impact on SGA polic Amy Wagner 4th semester Psychology Jeff Tseng 2nd semester Biology Hello, my name is Jeff Tseng and I am running for an upperclassman Senator seat for Student Government Lauren Beggs 2nd semester Marketing Joe Goetz 2nd semester Marketing SGA ELECTIONS Senator(lo) Ryan Snyder 4th semester - Political Science As a Senator, it would be my duty to represent your interests and opinions. The most important part of being an elected offi cial is honesty, so Fm going to give you promises, not lists of ideas. The best promise I can make is to stay close to it's pulse of our evolving college com munity and listen to the voices of my fellow students. I'll try to ensure all voices, bold or shy, are heard and considered. Even when in the minority, I will continue to defend the best solution and continue to promote the voice of my fel low students. Erik Holman 4th semester - Communication I will say that this is my first time ever considering being in such a position in my college. In fact, throughout my entire school eras, I was never in the student government league. I can already be considered inexperienced by peers, but the peers can also say that I relate to them and am willing to listen to ai of their needs and fulfill thet as much as possible. As a sei ator, I wouldn't place myself on a higher level or look at myself as bigger than any body else. In fact, one would n't even have to call me "sen, tor," they'll just know and trust that I have a lot in corn mon with the entire student body on this campus. I am you, just like you are me. Brian Barker 2nd Semester - Engineering In my first two semesters at Penn State Behrend. I've found myself fascinated by the way the campus is administrated. While I didn't expect to be eager to make an impression on the administrative situation on campus, I feel that I'm pre pared and capable of making a positive impression on the campus and providing the stu dents of Behrend with an attentive and understanding ear. Students should have a greater say in the way that their money is spent, and as a senator I will take care to keep their interests at heart to make positive changes. Jason Golbieski 2nd semester - Accounting As a freshman senator I was able to see first-hand how the Behrend student government functioned. I served on the Student Affairs committee with which we developed ideas that could greatly aid student life here at Behrend. I also served on the Academic Affairs committee in which we discussed methods to improve the quality of our academia. However, all the work committed by all of the SGA members and myself goes unnoticed by the student body, except for a select few. My platform is simple. I want to improve the quality of our student government as well make the student body aware of our actions. Also, I wish to continue the work that my fel low committee members and have done over the past year in order to improve the stu dent body as a whole. • s, representing the stu udent Government Angelina Caputo 4th semester Psychology I want to be a senator because I care about issues on campus such as concerns of where money is spent, events on campus and volunteering opportunities. I make fair decisions, and I am a creative problem solver. I would make a good senator because I take my responsibilities seriously and I am efficient in doing things the right way. I am good listener and I am the kind of person to always listen to others opinions. I like having a voice and I will be open to anyone who wants to speak through me. Lauren Restich 2nd semester Business I am running for SGA Senator because I have enjoyed work ing with everyone on school issues this year, and I believe that I have made an impact. We accomplished many things dur ing the first semester that directly affect everyone in the stu dent body, and 1 liked having a say in these changes. You should re-elect me because I am productive, outspoken, and familiar with all of SGA's policies and responsibilities. During my first tenure. I was on the Elections. Student Affairs, and Homecoming committees. I am also an active member of the Lion Ambassadors, THON, and participate in intramurals. Stephen Burger 4th semester Finance I am running for Senator on Student Government Association because I truly care about this campus and my fel low students. I am currently on Student Government as a Senator; I was elected at the end of the fall semester 2008. I am currently on the elections committee, student affairs committee and academic affairs committee. My goal as senator for next year if I am elected is to get more students involved on cam pus. If more students are involved we can accomplish more goals and get more done as a campus. Mike Fultz 4th semester History I am Michael Fultz, a sopho more in the history program here at Penn State Behrend. am running for the position of senator. During my time here I have seen some distance devel op between the people that make decisions on how student money is spent, and the people whom those decisions affect. I want to make sure that your voice is heard. If you have a prob lem with how your money is spent, then I want to hear from you. I want to make sure that you're happy hove vin• money is spent. I think the main thing that I want you to know is that you will have a voice if you vote for me. The Behrend Beacon I 5 SGA Behrend SO fbahe
