Class gift selection process under way

The spring, summer and fall graduating classes of 200 n
can show their appreciation in the form of a class gill that
will be both beneficial and symbolic I'm the entire Behrend

Currently, a selection committee of students and adminis
trators will meet
throughout the
spring to estab
lish a list of
potential gifts
for considera
tion. Students
will then vote
on a 2006
Senior Class
Gift.

gift in future issues of the Beacon and around campus on
advertisements, posters. flyers, letters and emails. Gift pos
sibilities, location for the gill, the overall cost of the gift. the

way in which the gill will recognize the Bchrend graduat
ing classes of 2006 arc all being considered to date.
Previous senior class gifts included the Lion (03-04), the
flagpole at the baseball and softball fields (2002). and most
recently the benches (2005). Many will he happy to hear
that a process is underway for establishing a permanent
home for the Lion near the Junker Center and the Smith
Chapel.
Another important deliberation of the committee has
been the financial aspect of the entire process. While
being accepted by the Senior Class Gift Committee to fund
this gift to Behrend. Graduating seniors may pledge the
halal - Ice, an increase, or a portion of their general deposit.
To find out the balance of your general deposit. students are
asked to visit www.clion.psu.edu and check the bursar
account option on the page. Those interested in adding to
their general deposit will he contacted with more informa
tion on the process.

The hour-long "choreopoem - "One Race, One People, One Peace - Iv ill he
shown at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jan. 18 in McGarvey Commons.
Dr. Stc Nc Albrecht. president of violence prevention consulting firm Baron
Center Inc.. San Diego. and Dale Kelly Bankhead, public affairs director of the
American Civil Liberties Union chapter in San Diego, will be appearing in the
video Is Compromising Civil Rights Justified in the War on Terrorism?" held in
Reed 117 at 6 p.m.. 'Thursday. Jan. 19.
The next presentation to the Penn State Eric School of Engineering will take
place Thursday. Jan. 19 in Reed 114, and is titled "Evolution and Development
of the C \ herwand Dual Probe Lithotripter, - a new device used to fragment and
remove kidnev stones

Stall reported traffic accident at the intersection of Eric lot east end and Main
Drive. No injuries were reported. Vehicles were driven from the scene.

Officer discovered that a student was using a stolen permit on his vehicle

East County received a call from the Pennsylvania State Police reporting an
indi \ idual Was heing held hostage in an apartment not sure of his location.
Officers entered the apartment quad and found him in an apartment, having heen
ins ol \ ed in a fight.

While entering tickets that were written during the shift, officers found a vehicle
displaying a commuter permit which had been reported as lost.
