Friday, October 28, 2005 Women's volleyball captures AMCC title By Mathew Turner staff writer Bchrend volleyball accomplished a major goal Wednesday. The Lions captured the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season title and the #1 seed for the AMCC Championships with a sweep over visiting Medaille College. The blue and white dominated early and often winning 30-14, 30-14, 30-25. With the win Behrend improved to 23-7 on the season and 8-0 in the AMCC. By winning, they ensured that the conference championships will have to come through the Junkci Center and take on the Lions The Lions were led by a pair of juniors. Middle hitter Elaine Voltz, fresh off being named AMCC Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this year, slammed 13 kills. Outside hitter Lisa Wagner performed flawlessly, as she posted 14 digs, eight kills and three blocks. Also contributing for Behrend were sophomore defensive spe cialist Deanna Ciccarelli who nailed five service aces and Brad Ruffo looks to lead the Lions to the AMCC title NOTICE: EffeotivelOctobert3l; the Junker Center pool will have different hours.
