- The Behrend Winter Olympics will be held January 18 and 19.
Registration will be held November 12-16 and December 3-7 from
11 a.m. until 2 p.m. outside of Bruno's.
Each team will have five members (teams can be coed) to compete
with. Several events will occur in which teams have a chance to win
medals. The top team wins first prize, while the top three teams will
receive prizes. Events take place indoors and outdoors.
The Planet 93.9 will will be broadcasting the Olympic events. All pro
ceeds will go to benefit THON, which helps raise money for children
Feed the Need, running now through Nov. 17, is an effort to collect
food for the Second Harvest Food Bank. Boxes will be placed
around campus for food donations. Break-Out Day, where groups go
door to door in the community collecting food, occurs on Nov. 10. For

- Peter Leyden will be speaking about "The Long Boom: A Future
History of the World" on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the McGarvey
Commons. Leyden, a futurist, will tell how technology advances
and ecomonic events will make the path for future happenings. He
will also speak about what he expects to happen over the next 20
years in business, technology, politics, society, and science. The
lecture is free and open to students, faculty, staff, and the public.
JAZZ ENSEMBLE AND STUDIO
On Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Bruno's, the Jazz Ensemble and Studio
Singers will perform a plethora of music genres and styles. Chosen
pieces will be characteristic of: seing, blues, Latin, and Afro-Cuban.
A piece composed by lecturer in music and choir director Dr. Daniel
Barnard will be performed. The 19-member Ensemble will be ac
companied by the Studio Singers.
DINNER FOR SIX STRANGERS
- Students are invited to attend the 14th Annual Thanksgiving Din
ner For Six Strangers on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in. the Reed
Wintergarden/McGarvey Commons. Students will share a table
with Faculty and Staff to meet new friends and celebrate Thanks
giving. The dinner is free of charge; the reception begins at 5:30
p.m. and the dinner begins at 6 p.m. For more information, contact
the Office of Student Activities.
