It will be shown Tuesday, April 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the Reed Union Build ing Lecture Hall. Directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky, this German film tells a tale of class warfare in 1930 s rural Austria. The dilemma begins when, in his will, the master of a farm leaves his estate to his employ- In a society where the brutal exploitation of peasants has remained virtually unchanged since feudal times, his action cre ates an uproar among both peasants and gentry. The film shows how the seven suddenly enfranchised peons form a cooperative and overcome anarchy, male entitlement, leadership conflicts, and self-indulgence. Ruzowitzky explores the timeless and relevant issues of ideal istic revolution versus pragmatic reform and the radically differ ent perceptions of reality experienced by the haves and the have nots. The Women's Film Series is sponsored by the Office of Stu dent Affairs and is free and open to the public. For more infor mation, call the Office of Student Activities at (814) 898-6171.
