The team played Fredonia, Pitt- Greensburg, and Allegheny. The team came back with a 3-1 win over Fredonia on September 27. They beat Pitt-Greensburg 6-0 this past Saturday. Allegheny fell victim, 1-0, on October 3. Michelle Gutting scored the first goal against Fredonia in the tenth minute. Jenn Baker and Jill Barbisch added goals. Laura Furko had two assists. Fredonia's goal came in the 85th minute after the game was well in hand. Their week started with a win over Laßoche by scores of 15- 10, 15-4, 15-11. Leading the team's efforts was Senior Mary Good with 8 kills and 8 digs. Trip to Colorado may prove to be essential for second half success by Mike Bello staff writer The Behrend men's soccer team improved its record to 4-5-1 with a 3-1 win over Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, September 30. The victory allowed the Lions to make up for a previous 3-0 loss to Carnegie Mellon and gain momentum as they head into the heart of a seven game road stretch. The Panthers came back a short time later with their own goal to tie the score, but it would not last long as James Martin contributed the game winning goal in the second period. Later on, Ryan Ohl added another score to seal the victory for the Behrend Lions. With ten games under their belt, the men's team can now look at the upcoming games as preparation for the competition in the drive towards another AMCC title. Adding to this effort were Mary Good with 14 kills and 24 digs, and Jessica Neidermeyer with 9 kills and 15 digs. With one more game before the end of the first half of conference play, the Lions fared well with a 3-1 win over Pitt-Bradford by scores for 15-12, 15- 12, 13-15, and 15-5. He has amassed five goals, and his ten points also pace the team. Dave Kowalczyk and Martin are tied for second with three goals each, and Pentz has contributed a team high five story did not change. The Allegheny Lady Gators' soccer team is ranked above the Behrend lions' team in the Great Lakes poll decided upon by soccer coaches. Allegheny was actually ranked nineteenth in the nation coming into the game. Michelle Gutting scored the lone goal of the game in the thirty-sixth minute. Karen Walters aided the hitters with 29 assists. The matches this week are helping them prepare for their California trip over fall break. During break the Lions will get a taste of California volleyball with 2 games on October 7 and one more game on October 9 before returning to Erie. Head coach Cindy Jacobelli said, "this is a great opportunity to travel and see some California style volleyball. We are halfway through the AMCC schedule and hope to use this to tune up for the stretch run."
