EMERGING LEADERS 2000
On Saturday, September 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the
Office of Student Activities and the Student Activity Fee will
be sponsoring the Emerging Leaders 2000 Conference in the
Reed Union Building. The conference will feature key speaker
Jack Chambers, a professional student development consultant.
This program is designed for those interested in learning more
about becoming involved as a student and in developing
personal skills for leadership and life. Those interested should
contact Shawna Pelasky, coordinator of Greek life and student
leadership programs, in the Office of Student Activities at

CIDER ROCK
The second annual Cider Rock will be held on S
urday, September 23, in the Apartment Quad. Cider
Rock is the fall version of Spring Fever, which features
many bands, free food, and activities. The schedule of
bands is as follows:

A Closer Look

The jazz quartet Bassoon in the Wild kicks off the Music at
Noon: Logan Wintergarden Series into gear on Monday,
September 25 in the Wintergarden.
This quartet, which features the instruments of bass, vibra
phone, drums, and of course bassoon, is know for its innova
tion and improvisation.
The Logan Series is sponsored by the Harry A. Logan, Jr.,

The 2000 International Film
Series begins with the Spanish movie
Tango, produced by Carlos Saura.
Tango is a tribute to the dancing style of its namesake,
revitalizing the style with a romantic plot line. In the movie a
disabled dancer is in the process of producing a film and falls
for a shady investor's daughter. The film follows the struggles
he faces.
The International Film Series is sponsored by the School of
H&SS.

PARENTS AND FAMILIES WEEKEND
Parents and families weekend will be held on September 29
and continue through October 1. This is a weekend to partici
pate in a celebration for parents, families, and students. High
lights include Casino Night, a Tail Gate Party, and Comedian
Michael Dean Ester. Reservation deadline is September 25. Ques

FRENCH FILM SECOND IN SERIES
Marius and Jeannette will be the second film to run in the
International Film Series. It
will air on Monday, October 2,
at 7:00 p.m. in Reed 117.
This comedy-romance is set
in the working-class district of
L'Estaque, France. Marius is
the brooding watchman of an
abandoned factory and
Jeannette is the tough single
mom who breaks his shell
The story follows the ro
mance that springs up between
the two and the hardships they

The International Film Series is funded by the School of
H&SS.
Join fellow Penn State students at University Park for All-U-
Day, a day where students from all Penn State campuses can
attend a Penn State football game. Tickets will be sold at a
reduced rate of $l7 to students. The game takes place on
November 4, but students can come up for the whole weekend
and enjoy a tailgating party and other activities at University
Park. Only 50 tickets are allotted to Behrend, so stop by the
RUB Desk to complete the sign-up sheet. Bring Penn State ID
and cash/check for each ticket. Only 2 tickets per student, sold
on a first-come, first-served basis. Questions or comments
