They will likely follow the bonfire theme of hot dogs, toasted marshmallows, and s’mores TAKE BACK THE NIGHT 2000 Penn State Behrend will host Take Back the Night 2000 on Wednesday, Apri 26. Participants are asked to meet in the Reed Wintergarden at 7 p.m. for an introductory talk, and the candlelit walk will begin at 7:30 p.m. Take Back the Night is an annual call to make the night safe for Women. It focuses primarily on promoting awareness for rape and sexual assault. The first local Take Back the Night March took place at Penn State Behrend in the 1980\s and in succeeding years was co-sponsored with other organizations and relocated to downtown Erie. This year, the students involved in Women Today have decided to re-ignite interest in this important event by sponsoring the march at Behrend. The candlelit walk through campus will include brief talks concerning issues such as date rape, counseling, and legal recourse for rape survivors. The event conclude with a-speak-oa*rwh eh any pe'Hion *s ;xperience with rape or sexual assault. Counselors’ from* Belt rend will'be participating in the march and will be available to talk to anyone present. Following the march will be a reception in the Reed Wintergarden. COMMENCEMENT On Saturday, May 13, Penn State Behrend will hold its spring 2000 com mencement. Faculty and staff will assemble in the Erie Hall classroom at 11:30 a.m. In case of rain, two ceremonies will be held in Erie Hall. The first ceremony will begin at 12 noon, and the second at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Ursula Davis, assistant professor of communications, will be the com- mencement speaker. Immediately following the program, a reception will be held in the Reeil Building/Reed lawn to honor graduates, guests, faculty, and staff.
