Delta Chi celebrates tenth anniversary
by Kevin Bruner and Liz Hayes
assistant photo editor and news co-editor
The brothers of Delta Chi will be celebrat
ing their fraternity's tenth anniversary on Fri
day, March 24, 2000. It has been an active
chapter since the spring semester of 1990.
Originally founded as the local fraternity
Beta Upsilon Nu, the brothers decided to gain
recognition by becoming affiliated with an
international fraternity. Thus, Delta Chi as
we know it was formed.
A banquet will be held at the Quality Inn
of Erie, honoring current members as well
as alumni of the fraternity for their dedica-

tion and accomplishments during the last ten
years. During its existence the chapter has
faced many hardships and exciting moments
that have strengthened the character of the
chapter. On December 30, 1993, their house
was severely damaged by a fire.
Says George Leshnock, head of Alumni
Affairs for the chapter, "we are very happy
that a lot of older alumni will be back to see
the strides we have made on campus and with
the chapter itself."
Currently, Delta Chi is involved with many
activities. These activities include an annual
soccer tournament held during orientation
week, participation in Pennsylvania's Adopt-
wmtviget , Uwta.corri
A-Highway program, and an annual Bowl-
A-Thon benefiting the Second Harvest Food
Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania.
This year, the Bowl-A-Thon will be held
on Saturday, March 25, from 12 —2:30 p.m.
at the Classic Lanes in Perry Plaza. Every
dollar the fraternity earns will be turned over
as $l7 worth of food. The brothers hope to
earn over $lOOO. After the Bowl-A-Thon the
brothers will be holding their annual formal.
"[The Bowl-A-Thonj is an annual event
that we hope provides much support to the
Second Harvest Food Bank," commented
Leshnock.
