Directed by Lecturer in Theatre, Tony Elliot, Teibele and Her Demon takes place in Frampol, a small Pol ish village, in the 1880's. The young and beautiful Teibele has been de serted by her husband and, by law, is not allowed to marry again. Alchonon is a.woebegone, unemployed scholar who loves Teibele from afar, know ing that they cannot marry. The tale of how Alchonon finally succeeds in winning Teibele's heart and soul creates a mysterious and passion- ate play. Teibele is played by freshman Wendy L. Mc Gaughey of North East, who has appeared in a number of pro ductions at North East High School and with the North East Community Players. Electrical engineering ma jor Thad Esek, a freshman from South Park, PA, plays Alchonon, the unem ployed scholar. Others in the cast in clude senior Michael Puline of Girard, freshman Rob Kearns of Gibsonia, PA, junior Matthew Parson of Franklin, sophomore Ed Gabrys of Franklin, and sophomore Lori Frietze of Erie. CREATIVE WRITERS SPEAKER SERIES Andrea Barrett will continue the Creative Writer Speaker Series with A Fiction Reading on Tuesday, No vember 30 at 7 p.m. in the Reed Lec ture Hall. Thanks to all who attended. A decision on what type of balloons to be used for the fund-raiser was finalized. We will be making the stress balls this week and will be selling them in front of Bruno's. We will need volunteers to help sell these. If you are interested then call us at the commuter council office. The council decided that we will be giving away Free Coffee and Cookies on Monday, December 13, during finals week. The times for this event will be finalized after we place the order with Housing and Food Services. The council is in the process of two service projects. The first project is Angel Gifts For Kids in which we are sponsoring two children. We are waiting to find out more information about the children. When we know more, we will be purchasing their Christmas gifts. If you are interested in participating in this project please call the Commuter Council office. The second project is Com muter Council's 2nd Annual Wish-A-Thon. We still need to contact The Make-A-Wish Foundation so we can get a child to sponsor. Karl will be meeting with Stacey McCoy to learn how the funding can and will be used. The date and time for this 12 hour dance-a-thon is April 14, 2000 from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. The Commuter Council is very excited about the Wish-A-Thon. TEMPUS SUBMISSIONS CALL Tempus, Behrend's literary journal, is now accepting poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction submissions for its Spring 2000 edition. There are no limits on the number of submissions interested students can submit, but only high quality submissions will be accepted. Entries must be typed and double spaced, and submis sions of fiction and creative non-fic tion are limited to 15 pages. The Chestnut Brass Company was founded in 1977 to advance the art of musical performance on brass instru ments and to preserve the history sur rounding these instruments. The Chestnut Brass Company has been at the forefront of period-instrument re vival. The CBC regularly commis sions new works and premieres con temporary brass music. Rugby is a fast-paced physical sport involving 15 athletes competing for two 40-minute halves.
