The Penn State Behrend NSBE chap ter received the Chapter Recognition Award in honor of its excellent work and performance as a NSBE Chapter. Behrend's NSBE chapter was awarded in recognition of its devel opment of outstanding programs, pro gression as a chapter and for holding a high level of communication in the NSBE regional executive board. It is due to the contributions of some very active members, and in particular. a hard working executive board, that Behrend's NSBE chapter was able to achieve this nationally acclaimed award. "Throughout the year I was really impressed with how hard the e board (executive board) was working, it shows that the regional board was impressed as well," said Russel John Baptiste, President of Penn State Behrend's NSBE. In regards to the award Baptiste went on to say. "I would like to personally thank my e hoard." The 1999 Fall Regional Conference brought to gether more than 1,000 aspiring engi neers in an event that resembled a cel ebration more than it did a ceremony. The occasion was kicked off Friday evening with a hype session that in tensified the excitement level within the Sheraton Hotel of Research Tri angle Park N.C. The night only grew more intense as college students from all over the east cost screamed at the top of their lungs, chanting in school pride. Things exploded at about lam when the first of the two scheduled parties began. At this point there was enough energy in the Sheraton Hotel to put Con Edison out of business (and this is not because there was an abun dance of engineers present.). On Sat urday morning gears were switched to a more conservative mode as students were dressed in proper attire to par ticipate in a career fair. NSBE mem bers had the opportunity to hand their resumes to representatives of compa nies, such as General Electronics, Sprint, IBM, Texas Instruments, Anderson Consulting and more. The fair was followed by a workshop ses sion in which students participated in the workshops of their choice, which ranged from themes of money, power and respect to those entitled "Ten Steps "No, I don't think he should retire. As long as he can walk he should keep pacing the sidelines." "Oh my gosh, NO! He is my second god. He is like the father of Penn State."
