Lady Spikers place third
Allegheny Tournament

The Penn State Behrend women's
volleyball team dropped to 4-6 on the
season with a 3-1 loss Tuesday night
at Wooster. This was a disappointing
loss for the Lady Spikers after a suc
cessful tournament last weekend.
The team was led by junior Mary
Good with 10 kills and sophomore
Jessica Long, who pitched in with 17
digs. Sophomore Allison Millet also
contributed with 3 blocks and 6 kills.
The women got off to a slow start and
couldn't get themselves hack on track.

hundred and sixty two game sched
ule you can lose seventy of them and
still make it into the playoffs. Foot
ball is entirely different. Every game
is played with intensity. Only sixteen
games make up the regular season, so
every game counts. Gaines are played
on the weekends with a few excep
tions so it is very easy to follow your
favorite teams. Baseball games air ev
ery night, but unless you are a fan of
the hometown team you won't get to
see your favorite team in action.
Baseball has been fighting a losing
battle for years.

The Lady Spikers had a good show
ing in the Allegheny Tournament on
September 10th and 1 1 th. They fin
ished the tournament with a 2-2
record, earning them third place. The
women opened with a 3-0 loss to
Mount Union, but answered with a 3-
win over Genesco. The Lady
Spikers sought revenge against
Genesco, they lost earlier in the sea
son to them 3-0. They also rallied to
heat Fredonia after being down 0-2.
They finished the tournament with a
3-1 loss to host Allegheny. This tour
nament did boost the team's spirits

Behrend's Dustin Broussard
named AMCC golf athlete
of the week
Senior golfer Dustin Broussard, led the Lions with an 84 at the La
Roche Invitational His performance earned him 6th place and he helped
lead Penn State Behrend to a 3rd place finish. Broussard also shot an 89
at the Elmira Tournament last week.
Gutting scores two goals in
route to victory against
Grove City
With a two goal performance by freshman standout Michelle Gutting,
the Behrend Lions prevailed over Grove City by a score of 4- I. Gutting
also scored three goals in the Wiitenhurg Tournament last week and has
compiled quite a season thus far. The win lifted the women's record to 2-
3-I. The Lady Lions battle Alfred on Saturday at 8:00 p.m.

John Carroll Tournament September
17-18. It's going to he a tough chal
lenge, but they look to build confi
dence for the rest of the season. The
team starts play within their confer
ence, the AMCC, on September 23rd
at home vs. Lake Erie.
