Behrend students have full ac cess to the University Park recruiting system. Each year more than one thousand corporate recruiters visit UP. Video interviewing is available, where seniors can tape an interview at Be- Time Marches by Danielle Marshall staff writer Yes, time did march on as Behrend students modeled into the latest styles and trends for the present Spring and upcoming Summer seasons. Last Thursday, the National Society of Black Engineers sponsored their annual fashion show held in the Reed Commons. There were about fifty eager students, faculty, and visitors patiently waiting to see what’s hot and what’s not. The styles on display ranged from army-style attire and swimwear to casual and business wear. In the swimsuit category, the ladies either wore a two-piece or one-piece colorful bathing suit with a matching sarong skirt tied around their waists. The models introduced the bright neon colors that seem to be the choice for this summer. The guys wore either the traditional swimming trunks or swim ming briefs. The audience couldn’t help but anticipate the hot, sunny days lective school. Dean Lilley told us that the predicted freshman GPA will be going up next year for four-year degree students, as well as associate degree students. Lilley also predicted big things for the future of Behrend, saying that our growth occurs incrementally. “Some day there will be several colleges at Penn State Erie, one of which will be Behrend College.” Jeremy Mills, Communications 06, hrend and have it sent to UP. In the military scene, about six students chanted and marched down the isles of the Commons, mod eling their camouflage, army uni forms as the audience clapped to the beat. The Fashion Show also included a scene of bridal and prom wear. Many of Erie’s Millcreek Mall stores lent their clothes to our students for showcase purposes. Stores like the Express, TJ Maxx, J. Riggins, Ameri can Commodores, Claire’s, Casual Comer, Gazooks, and The Limited, helped supply the models with clothes representing the hottest styles and designs. Master of Ceremonies Will Jordan and Mistress of Ceremonies Kim Moses enlightened the audience with their wit and sense of humor as they introduced each category. Danielle Marshall and Timothy Tate per formed the inspirational selection, “Lean On Me”, written by Kirk Franklin. Ayodele Jones, 06 POLSC, one of the participants in the contest stated, “It was a really cool way to increase audience participation.” Not only did the audience get re warded for their presence, but the models benefited from their partici pation in the show. The models re ceived 30% off from J. Riggins, 20% off from Express, and 10% off from JW until the end of April. Wunmi Okupe, 02 EE assisted Channasa Tay lor with this fun-filled event and stated, “First of all, I want to thank all the models. Despite the negative feedback from those who were not involved in the fashion show, we were still able to kick ass.” Coordinator Channasa Taylor, 04 MIB stated, “The second annual Fashion Show proved to be a success among stu dents, faculty, and the models.
