Tyson destroying sport of boxing
In the dying sport of boxing,
what could possibly make the once
respected boxing ring nothing
more than a free for all with ropes?
One man... Mike Tyson.
We all know of Tyson’s past
troubles with the law. We all know
of his ear-biting incident. We all
know that he is supposedly “sane.”
And we all know he keeps coming
back. But there are new
developments with the progress (I
call it progress because the boxing
world continues to use his screw
ups to promote the sport) of Tyson.
Once again, Tyson has found
himself in prison. And once again,
the boxing world doesn’t care.
Tyson was sentenced to one year
in prison for assaulting two
motorists after a three-car accident
late last August. This incident has
since brought up questions of
whether or not he violated his
probation from his 1991 rape
conviction. Despite all these
questions, Tyson still might get
permission to fight during his
prison sentence. Yes, this criminal
could be allowed out of prison to
release his anger on an opponent.
What next?
Why is it that this man can
continue to return to the ring even
after showing time and time again
that he can’t control his temper?
Even when all eyes are watching
You Make The Call!
Do you think Mike
Tyson should be
allowed to box during
his prison sentence?
“Yes, it’s his job to begin with, so he is entitled to work leave despite his occupation.
Besides, if he has violent tendencies, he may as well let out his frustration professionally
where it can be restricted and controlled.”
“No. It’s like giving him special privileges. It’s like taking away from the privileges of
the other people in prison.
“No, because he is an idiot.”
“No, because his voice is too high.”

him to make sure he doesn’t screw Maybe that is because every match he
up...he does. They say that as long as is involved in seems to be a return
he is mentally stable, then he can fight, match that the boxing money makers
So now, a man that has been evaluated advertise like it is some never before
and proven to be stable, can break the
law and break boxing rules and be
allowed to continue to fight?
What that tells me is that he has
perfect knowledge of what he is doing,
and he does it anyway. That makes it
better than someone that doesn’t
understand what they are doing wrong?
I think boxing promoters are the ones
that should have their heads examined.
There are the “experts” that say this
man brings so much money to the sport.

seen extravaganza. Well, what
happens when Tyson actually gets two
fights in without getting arrested or
biting off someone’s ear? How would
they begin to advertise the madman’s
fights then? "Miss dinner? Come
watch Tyson cat.”
It seems as though the boxing
promoters look at us as some kind of
idiots. They actually think we care that
they are making money off this man.
They say that Tyson has to keep

fighting, because he makes the sport
of boxing so much money. But what
happens when he leaves, and all the
money spent on keeping the criminal
in the ring can’t save the sport. They
have taken the spotlight away from
Evander Holy field, a man with values,
and are shining the lights in the eyes
of their “hero." They can blame
themselves for the quick and painful
death of a sport that used to be loved
as much as baseball and football.
To this day, 1 hear the names of Ali,
Frazier, Liston, Spinks, Chavez and
even Holy field. I just hope that in the
future, we don’t give the madman the
pleasure of being associated as
boxing’s greatest. There is more to
being considered great than just a hard
right. There is actually something
called respect. Those men respected
the sport that brought them so much
fame and fortune... Tyson mocks it.
We've gone from a legend that
could “fly like a butterfly and sting
like a bee,” to a madman that gets
grounded by cops and bites like a
gator. So you tell me...is boxing still
a respectable sport? I can tell you with
absolute certainty that it isn’t and
never will be like it once was. We can
thank Mike Tyson and his promoters
for that.
