Chuck and Ginny’s: good home cookin’
by Roger Burlingame

1 recently visited a small Italian res
taurant called Chuck and Ginny's.
located on sth and Cascade streets. I
was tipped off to its existence by a
request sent to the Beacon via H-mail.
1 was informed that it was the best Ital
ian eatery in the city; if it's not the
best, it's pretty darn close.
The atmosphere was great. When
we first walked in, the place was
packed and it was seat-yourseif.
Chuck and Ginny's is a very small res

mortal Chuck and Ginny themselves
observe their patrons from their spot
on the wall.
We started off w ith deep fried mush
rooms. Normally this is not a remark
able dish, but I've never seen a big
ger helping of shrooms in one order,
not to mention the extra tasty batter,
and the fact that they w ere very juicy
made it most definitely outstanding.
The entrees were excellent. 1 had the
Breaded Veal Cutlet and it was per
fect. As you can well imagine the
sauces in this place are phenomenal.
The marmara was. 1 hate to say it,
better than my grandmother's. The
seal was very lightly breaded and as

tender as you eould want. The only
problem I had with my meal was that
there was too inueh for me to eat at
one sitting and I had to take some
home. My date enjoyed the chicken
and mushrooms over teuuccine which
had a great alfredo sauce, and comple
mented the other flavors perfectly.
Now came the cheek for our food:
the total bill after tip was $28.33.
For dessert we had nothing because
we both agreed that there was just too
much food for us to even think about
having anything else. All in all I
would recommend Chuck and
Ginny's to anybody who appreciates
really, really good cookin'.
