The Gospel Choir at Penn State Erie,
The Behrend College, will perform
Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the
Reed Union Building Commons. The
concert is free and open to the public.
The ten-person choir, under the direc
tion of Leßoy Ladson, minister of
music at the Bethlehem Temple
Church, began performing in the fall
of 1997. The group has sung locally
and regionally at Clarion University,
Edinboro University, and Mercyhurst
College, as well as concerts in Wash
ington, D.C. For more information,

The Penn State Erie, The Behrend
College, School Play, Crimes of the
Heart will lake place on Nov. 6,7,
10. 11, 12, 13, and 14 at 8 p.m. and
Nov. 8 and 15 ul 2:30 p.m. Crimes of
the Heart is the Pulitzer Prize-winning
play that established playwright Beth
Henley as a major voice in the the
atre. Tony Elliot, instructor in the
atre at Penn State Erie, is directing the
production. Set entirely in the kitchen
of the Magrath home in Hazelhurst,
Mississippi, the play examines the
lives and loves of the three sisters:
Lenny, who at 30 is the oldest; Meg,
27, the middle sister; and Babe, 24,
the youngest. As the town looks on,
Lenny does her best to hold the fam
ily together, in spile of destructive and
even homicidal tendencies of her
younger sisters. The production in
cludes six Penn State Erie students:
Jamie Lojewski, a sophomore liberal
arts major from Erie plays the oldest
sister, Lenny; Amanda Pieper, an un
dergraduate studies freshman from
Lake City is Meg, the middle sister;
and Nadia Drozda, an undergraduate
studies freshman from Pittsburgh, is
Babe, the youngest. Rounding out the
cast is Jessica Dows, a freshman sci-
ence major from Edinboro, who plays
the sisters’ cousin, Chick; Dallas
Skeens, a sophomore liberal arts ma
jor from Erie, who plays Doc, Meg’s
old boyfriend; and Josh Iszkula of
Lake City, who plays Babe’s lawyer,
Barnette. Tickets for the production
are $3 for students and $5 for general

at Behrend on Thursday, November
12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Reed Lecture
Hall. Acampora has been the direc
tor of Technical Analysis at Pruden
tial Securities since 1990. His pre
sentation is entitled “Elves, Bulls, and
Bears.” Acampora is a regular panel
ist on the television show, Wall Street
Week with Louis Rukeyser, and is of
ten consulted for his opinion by the
Wall Street Journal, Barron's , Busi
ness Week and the USA Today. He
has appeared on the NBC Nightly
News, CNBC, CNN, CNN-FN and

The Logan Wintergarden Series will
continue with a
performance by An die Musik, a
world-class chamber music ensemble
of strings, oboe, and piano, on Thurs
day, Nov. 12 at Penn State Erie, The
Behrend College. Guests are invited
to bring a brown-bag lunch to the
noontime concert, which
takes place in the Wintergarden of the
Reed Union Building. All perfor
mances in the Logan Series are free
and open to the public. An die Musik
draws its name from “To Music,”
Schubert’s composition in praise of
song. The group, formed in 1976 by
pianist Constance Emmerich and vio
linist Eliot Chapo, now includes
Emmerich and violinist Frank Al
mond, cellist Daniel Rothmuller, vio
list Richard Brice, and oboist Ronald
Roseman. Its unusual combination of

The political science program at
Penn State Erie will again be offer
ing a one-credit one-week course and
trip to Washington DC over Spring
Break, March 7-14, 1999. The
course and trip will include meetings
with members
of Congress, representatives of for
eign embassies, and federal agency
officials, as well as tours of govern
ment buildings and opportunities to
see the sights of Washington. Dr.
Robert Speel and Dr. Matt Davies
will be accompanying students on
the trip. Interested students can ac
quire a brochure containing informa
tion and details about the trip from
any political science faculty mem
ber. Reservations for the trip are due
by Friday, November 20.
Need a ride to and from the bus sta
tion or the airport? Sheets are now
available at the RUB Desk for stu
dents to sign up for a ride with the
Blue Bus on Wednesday, November
25 and Sunday, November 29 to go
to the Greyhound Station or the Erie
International Airport for Thanksgiv
ing Break. The cost to go to the
Greyhound Station is $l.OO, but to
the Airport will cost $7.00. When

their name, phone number, and
time. All students must prepay and
this fee is nonrefundable. Keep
your white receipt and give to the
driver when you board. Hope to see

Flu shots through the Health and
Wellness Office are currently being
offered to any student. The cost of
the injection is only $lO.OO. Stu
dents can obtain the shot at any
time, except Wednesday mornings,
or Friday afternoons, and arc wel
comed on a walk-in or appointment
basis. This injection fights the res
piratory flu and combats fever,
chills, headache, dry cough, and
muscle aches. Restrictions may
apply to individuals with particular
allergies, or other nvedical condi
tions. To obtain further information
on this injection, please contact the
Health and Wellness Center at 898-
6217.
The Office of Police and Safety the
Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and
Omnicron Delta Kappa are con
tinuing their yearlong clothing drive
to benefit those in need. The groups
will continue to collect items
through Friday, November 13. The
organizations seek men’s, women’s
and children’s clothing in good con
dition. Blankets, sleeping bags,
toys for children, brand new sealed
toothbrushes, and boxed or bagged
diapers are needed as well. The
items collected will be distributed
Saturday, December 5 at Shiloh
Baptist Church on a first come, first
served basis. Boxed or bagged
items may be dropped off at the
Police and Safety Office, or at the
John F. Kennedy Center, 2021 East
20th Street, Shiloh Baptist Church,
901 East sth Street, and Booker T.
Washington Center, 1720 Holland
Street.
