University of Pennsylvania. Dr.
Katherine Wolfe is another advisor and
Dean Baldwin overlooks the education
program, as well as Kappa Delta Pi,
here at Behrend.
Kappa Delta Pi, here at the
Behrend College, will benefit the stu
dents and it seems to be the best choice
for Behrend students that are involved
in the educational program. Once the
organization is approved of. the per
spective members, totaling about 25-
30, will be initialed as members of
Kappa Delta Pi. It is anticipated that
il Kappa Della Pi is approved, it will
be towards the end of the Fall semes
ter, 1998. Behrend already recognizes
this organization as Kappa Delta Pi in
order for it to receive funding through
SGA.
Kappa Delta Pi is involved
semester
member for life, as long as they pay
their dues and are active, even if ones
GPA slips from a 3.0. If a person is
interested in Kappa Delta Pi but does
not have a 3.0 and they are in the edu
cation program, they can become a
pledge. Linhart said, "There are no
standards to become a pledge of the
group and you get full rights as a
member, except you can’t vote on the
procedures or events that the group
plans on doing." This organization is
open to anyone who is interested in
the education field and would like to
see educational standards raised.
Students who become in
volved in this organization are going
to benefit from the organization be
cause it offers a lot of opportunities
for an individual. Il gives one an op
portunity to attend conferences, re
ceive tips on interviewing and what
information to provide in a portfolio
when going for a job, among many
other things. Kappa Delta Pi is an
international organization that pre
pares its members for the future. Ac
cording to Linhart, "We are an inter
est group that has expressed an in
terest, and have taken the proper pro
cedures and now are awaiting ap
proval of receiving a charter.” The
perspective members are dedicated to
this organization. Linhart said, “I
believe that this program will be very
successful. Word of mouth is the best
advertisement, and once we start
implementing some of the programs
this is possible.”
