Jill Forsman, 03 elementary edu cation, is a founding member of the organization. “It’s something differ ent. We didn’t have anything for education majors,” she stated. Kappa Delta Pi plans to get edu cation majors involved with pro grams such as adopt-a-school, where Behrend students have the opportu nity to tutor elementary aged chil- Part time positions, to work on an as needed basis in educational facility for children with developmental disabilities. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daycare hours are 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. High School diploma, valid PA driver’s license and Acts 33/34 clearances are required. Some of the members are involved in the five year Behrend education program. In this program, students complete a four-year degree at Behrend and re ceive their teaching certification through another year of classes at Mercyhurst College. Some of the members plan to transfer to Univer sity Park to complete their educa- tion major. Joining Kappa Delta Pi will give an education major “a lifetime mem bership to a well-known, highly re spected organization,” commented Forsman. The group’s next meeting is Octo ber 6 at 8:00 in the Reed Building. Fliers will be posted with more in formation.
