Game one on Friday was against Lycoming College. The ladies played well and used their team speed to cruise to a 4-0 victory. He has set his goals high for the 1998 season in hopes of coaching his team to a top three finish in the Re gional meet, qualifying them in the National meet in November. The men's team is off to a strong start, winning the Fisher Invitational held at Westminster this past week end. The men were led by Brian Gaines, Mark Suroviec, and Dennis Halaszynski, who placed first, second and fifth respectively. The women's team enters the sea son battling inexperience and a lack of involvement. Coach Hoffman hopes for more par ticipation in the near future. Up next for the Behrend runners will be an Invitational at Thiel Col lege held this Saturday, September 12. The Lions will then host their Invita tional the following Saturday on Behrend's new course. The meet will start at 11:00 a.m. at the soccer fields. Coach Hoffman is pleased with the outlook for the season and effort shown so far by the teams. "This is a good group that is easy to work with.
