Events The Behrend Foreign Film Series continues with "Land and Freedom" on Monday. November 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Reed Lecture Hall. It is a British film about the struggle of the militia forces on the Republic side during the Spanish Civil War as seen by a member of the International Brigades. Poet Lucille Clifton, former poet laureate of Maryland, will present "An Evening of Poetry" on Thursday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Reed Lecture Hall. Her appearance continues the Creative Writers Speaker Series. On Thursday, November 13, Dr. Jeffery Pinto presents "Serving Two Masters: Thoughts on Resolving the Rigor vs. Relevance Debate in Business Research" in the Reed Lecture Hall at noon. The presentation is part of the Provost's Speaker Series. The Center for Service Leadership is offering the opportunity to help others by participating in the monthly ONE SHOT at the City Mission. Amnesty International is hosting its first speaker on Tuesday, November 11 at 7:30 pm in Reed 117. Dr. Ephraim Kahana is an international relations scholar from the University of Haifa, Israel, where he teaches at the National Security Program. He holds a Ph.D. in International Politics from the University of South Africa. He will speak about the relationship between the Peace Process and Human Rights in Israel. The lecture will be followed by an open forum. This event has been made possible by the help of co-sponsors, the Jewish Student Organization and the Erie Regional Peace and Justice Center and has received support from the Humanities & Social Sciences Division and the Student Affairs office. Along with their faculty advisor, Tony Elliot, lecturer in theatre, these Behrend students joined hundreds of other members of the Erie community to take a five mile walk and to help battle heart disease, the number one killer of Americans. This is the sixth year that Erie has had a "Heart Walk" and it is the second year that the Matchbox Players have participated. Thanks to the generosity of the Penn State- Behrend campus community, the Players were able to raise nearly $5OO to support the work of the American Heart Association. Thank you, to all who contributed.
