Johns Hopkins 66, Behrend 50
The Penn State Behrend Lions
finished a very impressive season
of basketball the weekend before
Spring Break with a 66-50 loss to
Johns Hopkins University in the
ECAC. Southern Region
Semifinals. With the loss the
Lions finished up the year at IS
t!.
The Lions used an 11-21
shooting performance from the
floor to take a two point half-time
at 32-30.
But the Lions made just seven
shots from the floor in the second
half. They were doubled up 36-18
in scoring as they dropped the
game and bowed out of the
tournament.
Andy Lawrence, WJET's
(Channel 24) Athlete of the
Week, scored a team high twenty
points for the Lions. Steve Hout
added twelve, Jason Paloskey had

his last collegiate game had six
points and six boards.
Matt Gorman notched 22 for
Johns Hopkins as fourteen
different players were out on the
floor as compared to only nine for
Behrend.
The loss ended an excellent
year of Behrend basketball. The
Lions were standing at 9-9 on
Feb. 8 before going on a season
ending hot streak winning six of
seven to make the playoffs.
This season was also the last
for senior forward Ron Derian. He
battled through injury this year
averaging 9.9 ppg and grabbing
6.6 rpg to help lead the Lions,
The Lions will return all but
Derian and Joe Kissane next year.
Steve Hout will be the only senior
and the team will have a lot of
talent.
