Emick earns this week's ATW Lawrence takes last week's honor Emick pours in 23 to lead Behrend by Matt Plizga Sports Editor This week the men's basketball team earned their tenth win of the season positioning themselves for an ECAC playoff spot. A big contributer to their success was the play of sophomore Brian Emick, who earned Housing and Food Service Athlete of the Week honors. His career high in points came Monday night in the Lions 83-53 thumping of Bethany (W.V.) College. "I was happy to see Brian score a career high 23 points (vs. Bethany). He works harder than anyone on the team in practice and deserves to play well," said teammate Steve Hout. "Brian hit a few shots that boosted his confidence. Hopefully he can use this as a springboard to finish the year strong," said Coach Dave Niland. Emick combined solid outside shooting and a basket attacking style to piece together his career's best performance. He canned four three pointers while making eight of his thirteen shot attempts. "Brian really came out of his shooting slump (Monday). We were happy to see that," said Niland. "Brian really attacks the glass, offensively and defensively from the two guard position" said captain Ron Derian. For the year, Emick is the Lions' second leading rebounder at 4.5 per game. Monday he improved that mark by grabbing six boards. ions fall to Ke by Brian Gregory Sports Editor It's been an up and down year for the Lions.
