The festivities start today and run until Sunday October 6. The festival includes all types of activities for all types of people. One of the ongoing events is the "Apple Fest Extravaganza." This consists of an arts and crafts shov and sale, food booths, which of course include all types of apple desserts, and a theatrical production of "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.” New releases "Rated on a scale of one to four" Twister Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton Rating 21/2 Twister has awesome special effects in an OK movie Before and After Meryl Streep and Uam Neeson Rating 1 This movie had a disappointing storyline and was nothing that I had expected from the previews. E.T. Drew Barrymore and Henry Thomas Rating 4 It's E.T.. what more do I need to say? Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Gene Wilder and Jack Albertson Rating 3 A great movie for kids of all ages, it even includes a great moral. Movies to be released next week, October 8 The Craft Neve Campbell and Rachel True Rating 3 1/2 With cool special effects, this movie has a completely different storyline. Children of the Com IV Naomi Watts and Brent Jennings Rating 1/2 I would rather be forced to watch a Barney Marathon, than have to watch this movie again. The only reason I gave it a 1/2. was because of Stephen Speilberg. "Reviewed by Sara Prosser. Collegian Staff * OPEN Mon. thru Fri. 9:3oam to spm Sat. 9am to 4pm Other activities that occur through-out the weekend include: Tours around Franklin, breakfast, lunch and dinner specials, country line dancing classes, a mountain bike race, antique car show, and all types of live musical performances, including rhythm and blues, and country. It's the perfect opportunity to just kick back, relax and forget about classes for awhile. If this doesn't sound like the ideal roadtrip, then what about the Autumn Leaf Festival that is going on right now in Clarion, Pa? Activities for ALF include: the homecoming football game, and parade on Saturday over 300 Selling Quality Preowned items at low cost. THE New Life Center “The thrift store with style!” Besides, there isn't anything good to do around here anyway, right? There is nothing to lose and lots to gain; bonding lime with friends, time away from campus and most likely five pounds from all the great food. MTV on computer by Lisa Borgia Contributing Writer A combination of music features, movie reviews, games and animation, Launch is a bimonthly entertainment CD- Rom somewhat like having Rolling Stone, MTV, and a few comic books thrown in and smashed together on the computer screen. The format is a city scape with places like "The Hang,” the music review feature. "The Hang”, has interactive interviews in which users pick the topics they want to hear about, with answers given by the artists in a club setting. "Vibreaker" is a jukebox with five varieties of music. Each type of music features four groups, with samples of songs, videos and text for each one. Also included on the CD is a single by the featured band that can be played on a standard CD player. The movie review features a look at two movies, with interviews with the stars, previews of the films, and behind-the-scenes features. Two animated cartoons are also available on the "Toontanic". These are not Tom and Jerry type cartoons, but serious cutting edge animation. Two games for PC and two games for Mac are reviewed and can be downloaded and run like shareware versions. The user needs to load these games through DOS, which can be cumbersome, but justifies the price of the CD-ROM. Downsides to Launch is a "skippage" problem with the audio, and a slight mismatch in the video during the interviews. I estimate ten hours or so to completely explore the features, so plan accordingly. The CD-ROM takes about twenty minutes to install and get running. Disabling your screen saver is a good idea, since it pops on at the worst times while exploring Launch. Launch is fun, and I really liked the exclusive performances and interviews with the musical artists. The games were a big hit at my house, too. You can reach Launch by email at mail@2launch.com or on the web at http://www.2launch.com or hook into the user feedback and investigate other interactive entertainment from Launch, "city.” 1213 State Street, Erie - 454-4421
